My dog's here!

My dog, Charlie, flew from South Carolina to Sydney, Australia and spent a month in quarantine. We were finally able to pick her up! She’s in good shape and is non-stressed. She seems to like her new backyard and is getting used to all the weirdo Australian birds (although the magpies haven’t swooped her yet).

Her biggest adjustment has been our son. We moved to Australia in June. Because we hadn’t planned on moving until September, we left Charlie with some friends, who took care of the final preparations she needed to come over. So, we hadn’t seen her for almost 6 months. In that time, my boy went from a crawling little baby to a running, shrieking bundle of boy. We’ve made sure Charlie has plenty of escape routes. They’ve actually been very good together, but I think I noticed a look of relief when we left her alone while we went to the grocery store.

Picking her up from the quarantine station was an adventure, too. On the drive down, a guy went to switch lanes and smashed into my car. Huge dent in the side. Nobody was hurt and the guy was extremely nice (I actually thanked him as I left). I’m glad our car is a freakin’ tank.

Aww, how nice that the family is together again. Sounds like quite an adventure. Give Charlie a pat for me :).
