Luckily, it’s not a real duck, so it didn’t get far. I have one of those flotation ducks attached to the end of a pipe in my lake. It keeps the intake for my sprinkler pump level, presumably so it doesn’t clog up.
In the rain and wind last night, it escaped. I found it floating in the lake this morning. Prevailing winds tend to bring things to my yard, so it was easy to recapture it.
The duck has an attachment at the bottom with two holes in it. Apparently you tie it to the intake pipe through those holes.
So…what’s the proper way to re-attach it? What type of line should I use?
Do I need to wade out/float out on a raft to tie it to the end, or do I loop it around near shore and push it out with a pole? It only needs to go three or four feet.
How does it stay in place? Is there likely to be something near the end of the pipe to contain it? Or do I just tie it tight and let friction hold it?
The water is a bit nasty, so I’d rather not get in there just to check out the pipe.
Any words of advice?
Thanks,
