My energy regimen quit working!

I like to boost my energy levels before performing. As a general rule: The higher my energy level, the better my tips. I generally make about double the tips “boosted” vs. not “boosted”. I drink a Monster Khaos energy drink (one of those 70% juice energy drinks with all the ginseng and other herbal stimulants), and also a pack of Rooster Booster Tablets (gel tabs filled with powdered herbal stimulants like ginseng). I listen to high-energy music on the drive to work, and even force a lot of deep belly laughs (I swear that works).

But the last two weekends, I walked in to work feeling kinda blah. No boost in energy level what-so-ever! I even threw in a snickers bar for the combination of short-term sugar rush, and the long-term protein boost. Nothin’. I’ve been using this cocktail for a while. I am thoroughly familiar with the effects this stuff has on my body. Fifteen to twenty minutes is what it generally takes to reach my boosted level, and then I’m practically bouncin’ on my toes for the rest of my shift. But now… Nothin’.

Did they switch formulas in one of these products? Forget to put in the “good stuff”? What gives? I lucked out last night and caught a couple of good tables that tipped well even with my energy level not being artifically heightened. But in general the last couple of weeks have been lousy. WTF.

You’ve developed a tolerance. Now you have to keep taking the stuff just to feel normal, if you quit you’ll go through withdrawal. May be time to move on to meth.

Worked for me!

I came to a realization some time back that four cans of Red Bull a day wasn’t having the half the effect that even one can used to have. It’s a gateway drug.

4 cans of Red Bull a DAY?

I can only imagine what you would be like if there were suddenly no more red bull.

Withdrawl would be worse than coffee, I’d suspect.

I have been feeling a lack of energy during the week lately, but I would never have thought it was withdrawal. I only use the stuff Fri and Sat night. Twice a week doesnt seem that excessive. Hmph.

Might stop for a while and see what happens. Hate to play with variables affecting income, but I’ve been really sluggish lately. Actually looked up symtoms of mono as I heard constant exhaustion was one of them. I never have the urge or desire to drink this stuff other then when going to work on the weekend, so I wouldn’t consider myself an addict in the traditional sense, but I guess I could be screwing with the “norm” levels of certain systems in my body.

Seems weird to me that I’ve been using this regimen for so long without seeming to develop a tolerance. (It seemed to stop working all at once, rather than a gradual loss of effect.) The lack of energy during the week has been occuring a little longer (month or two), but I’ve been using this type of weekend “energy regimen” for a few years at least.

I dunno, ask any college student who drinks on weekends how their tolerance for alcohol increases over time even when you only drink on weekends. It takes a while for the tolerance to go away, too. I am out of college now, and I’m a VERY cheap date
