My eyes are messing with me.

I have always had perfect vision and never had any problems with my eyes. BUT, no matter where I look right now or what I am looking at there is a perfect circle of hazzy vision just to the left of where I am focusing. It looks like heat waves look coming off the road or something, but in a circle no matter where I look. I am kinda creeped out by this. It just started about half and hour ago and I am at work and so can’t do anything about it until 6:00 (7, your time). Any ideas? I am not panicing, but there has never been anything weird with my eyes, and it is weird.

and now I am staring to get a headache from looking at things…

Please offer some advice, even bad advice.

You have a migraine. Don’t worry, I get them all the time.

All migraineurs (fancy word for those who suffer from them) have different ways of helping themselves to recover when one strikes. Mine is to lie down in a dark room, with a cold pack on my head and a hot water bottle on my feet. Usually I put a radio onto a talk station, on low volume.

Be sure to drink plenty of fluids after you get up again (and not alcoholic ones :)).

If you continue to have migraines, talk to your doctor about treatment. I take Zomig (zolmitriptan) for attacks, and it seems to work about 3/4 of the time.

Good luck in recovering.

I am not a doctor, but if you are that worried about it, go to a local ER. It could be something as benign as a pinkeye infection, or it could be something bad like a retinal detachment.

I second the migraine vote. For me, a dark room with an open window (no matter how cold or hot it is outside) and some soothing music played just loud enough to hear does it. I use Midrin (yeah, I know, it’s an old one, but hey, I can’t take any of the new stuff) and caffeine.

Migraines are bad enough, but a detached retina is serious. Worse yet, that little bluury spot fits both. Ask my right eye.

Shadowfox has the right idea: go to the ER, and do it NOW!

Get as close to the TV as possible. Perhaps lightly scratching your eyes with a pair of scissors would also help.

Seriously, sorry to hear about your headache. Hope it gets better.

They TOLD you you’d go blind if you didn’t stop dear…
But seriously, go see someone about it. It could be a minor irritation of your eye, a minor nerve problem, migraines… well it could be a few things and you’re better off knowing for sure. Just try and not stress too much in the interim.

You should go to a doctor to get your eyes checked out as soon as possible. A visual disturbance like that should not be ignored. It sounds like a migraine, but could be something dangerous to your vision.

Have you eaten anything out of the ordinary today, or skipped a meal or changed your caffiene intake? These things can trigger a migraine.

Hope you feel better soon.

I had exactly the same thing happen a couple of months ago… Kindof a wierd rippling effect and severe blurring. I couldn’t quite figure out which eye it was in. I thought I had had an anuyrism in my visual cortex at first. My wife told me it was probably a migrane. It didn’t hurt, but was disorienting. I am told that not everyone who experiances migranes fell them as pain. Just about the time I was gonna go in and have it checked, it faded.
