My Favorite Five Movies.

Only 5? That’s tough.

My list varies a bit from time to time but all of these remain at the top of the list:

Star Wars(ESB, ROTJ, ANH, AOTC, TPM, in that order)
LOTR
Wizard of Oz
American Beauty
The Sound of Music

Honorable mentions: E.T. , Jaws, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Beauty and the Beast(Disney), Spiderman, Batman, Ever After, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spaceballs, Planet of the Apes(the original), King Kong, and so many more that I’m forgetting.

The Shawshank Redemption
Requiem for a Dream
Full Metal Jacket
Bringing out the Dead
28 Days Later

Me, I have yet to see a film by them that I’ve liked. Anyway mine are:

  1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
  2. Planes Trains and Automobiles
  3. Spinal Tap
  4. Life of Brian
  5. Princess Bride

My list varies wildly from day to day, but these are movies I could happily pop into my VCR right now:

The Best of Everything (1959)
Female Trouble (1974)
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Three-Cornered Moon (1933)
Intolerance (1916)

Kind of, ummm, “eclectic,” now that I look at it . . .

The Godfather
The Godfather Part II
Amadeus
Full Metal Jackets
Big Lebowski

Honable Mention: The Empire Strikes Back

The Rocketeer
Cold Comfort Farm
Galaxy Quest
Lone Star
King Kong

Runners-up:
Ikiru
The Road Warrior
Rocketship X-M
The Three Musketeers/Four Musketeers (Richard Lester version)
Kiki’s Delivery service

I almost thought of submitting this list:

The Rocketeer
Rocketship X-M
Rock ‘n’ Roll High School
Rocky
The Rocky Horror Picture Show

–but thought better of it…

Heat
Goodfellas
Fight Club
Pulp Fiction
True Romance
