Size 10, women’s here. Actually, I like my feet very much; they’re quite pretty, as feet go. However, I am only 5’6". Somewhere in the world, there is a 6’ tall woman who has my size 7.5 feet. Oh yeah, my feet are narrow as well, with very low ankles. Shoes that fit the length of my skis almost never fit in the width, and I have permanent callouses on my ankles from rubbing on the tops of my shoes. But, everything’s relative - my mom’s feet are bigger than mine, and my mom’s mom’s feet are even bigger still (and they are both under 5’4").
It’s not the added height, it’s what it does for your legs and buttocks. The elevated heel shifts the position of your calf and buttock muscles into a more aesthetically pleasing form. There’s actually an art history term for this sort of pose, but I’ve forgotten it.
My brother’s had size 15 feet since high school (he’s 6’7"). This was fine when he played basketball, the local stores always had basketball shoes his size. When he switched to track, we drove all over Los Angeles County looking for size 15 track cleats and ended up special ordering them. Shoe companies assume that if you’re that tall (or if you have feet like you’re that tall) then you obviously do nothing but play basketball. Even finding dress shoes for work is a hassle for him.
I like my size 9s, but it always seems that most shoes in Payless my size or larger are made for transvestite hookers. Hoenstly – sequins?
Size 16 shoes here! (And yes! It’s true! Big hands too! If you wanna know about any other body parts you’re gonna have to come check yourself… especially if you’re a young, nubile female-type; but don’t tell YouKnowWho! She has a temper!)
I’m worried, though… I used to be able to find size 16 here in Seoul (they made a lot of shoes for the western market), but lately I haven’t been able to find any… even online! All of my shoes, both for work and recreation are on the way out, and I’m going to badly need a few pairs of shoes soon! What then?
It is definatly not fun being a girl with big feet. I don’t know what I would do without the internet, because I have to get a lot of my shoes online. I wear a size 10 or 11, depending on the shoes, sometimes I get lucky and the stores carry them, but not often.
Now if only they made more pants with a 30 waist and a 30 length, I’d be happy. (And make those the real sizes, none of this inflate the waist so overweight boomers don’t realize they’re getting fat. )
Yes, I have big feet, but being a tall woman, I would look funny with tiny petite lil tootsies. Yes, Grace takes a lot of delight in teasing me about the size of my feet, but I know in my heart she loves me!
MGibson, I sympathize. I’m only 6’ tall, but I wear a size 15 or 16, depending on the manufacturer. For some reason, I need to wear size 16 Nikes, but other brands will fit me with 15s. I did find that REI had a pretty good selection of boots in my size, and got a very comfortable pair. And if you think sneakers are expensive in larger sizes, just wait till you buy dress shoes! I almost expect the salespeople to hand me a knife and tell me to go kill my own cow and make the shoes myself.
My ideal pants size is 29 by 31. I tell you, I have to buy, 30 by 30, 30 by 32, 28 by 30, etc, because the waists are so often inflated.
I’m pretty short. I’m wire thin. There can’t be too many people unlike me; I see them all the time in New York City. Yet all the pants I want seem to be 34 by 30, or some such slightly more copious size. There is always only one or two pair that fit me, and they are always in the wrong color.
I wear size 14 shoes, and have had a hard time finding shoes as well. The best place I have found for casual shoes is Wal-Mart, they always seem to have the larger sizes. For dress/business shoes, it is hard to find anything that doesn’t look like something Frankenstein’s monster would wear, so I normally have to take a chance and order off the net.
When I go to buy pants it seems they’re always made for fat and short people. I’m on the large size with a 44 waist, but it seems that inseams top out at 30. And damn few of those. I need a 32, and going up a waist size doesn’t help.
And I feel sorry for anyone over my size 12’s. Sometimes even those are hard to find.
You ain’t kidding! Try to find a 34-inch inseam, then find one with a 32-inch waist. Go ahead, I’ll wait. No, really, I will- I’ll take about anything you can find. There’s a reason those skinny kids’ pants are always falling off their butts.
Pants, pants everywhere, but not a pair that fits.
OTOH, my shoes are size 11, which practically grow on trees.
My feet got bigger after having LittleOne. I went from 7 wide to 7 1/2 wide. It’s really hard to find shoes except for Easy Sprits. For some reason they started closing all the Easy Sprit stores in the Boston area. (I know of one at Burlington Mall) and the department stores don’t always carry wide withs.
I took LittleOne for shoes yesterday. size 11 1/2 childs.
She’s only 4.
I wear a size 10 in womans. Now heres the thing. I’m ONLY 5 FOOT 4!!! What the hell man? My feet keep growing bigger too. I’m 21 one and I’ve gone up a shoe size since 2 years ago. Shouldn’t I be taller? BAH! Anyhoo, my friend Aaron wears a size 15. I questioned him on how hard it is to find shoes. He made me laugh by saying most stores only had one pair of 15’s and they usually caked with dust and were made sometime in 1946.
BTW, I should put in a plug for Chicago area dopers, try Abrams Shoes. I go in to Chicago every couple of years and stock up on oversize shoes at Abrams. They even had 13EEE Doc Martens, which you can’t buy anywhere else. It’s a nonstandard size, Abrams told me they had Doc Marten these shoes made to order for them.
