Just as an aside, this is the third time I have seen our local delighted Republicans mocking their SDMB detractors for their spelling. I haven’t seen any of that. Lots of raving lunacy and hyperbole, myself occasionally included, but I think we represent well in the use of the English language.
Thanks for giving me my biggest ear-to-ear grin of the night. And, no, we’re not humans. Cyborgs are cooler than humans anyway.
In all seriousness.
Early this year, I was committed to voting third party due to Iraq, Medicare, amnesty, the drill. So were many other Republicans. For a while there–you could not discern the difference between FreeRepublic and Democratic Underground… we all hated Bush.
Slowly, but surely, the rumblings of the lunatic leftists started in late spring, and started in full force as Michael Moore’s movie came out.
Gawd. You wonder why Bush won. I’ll tell you why.
You leftists scared and angered the **** out of us, and it has nothing to do with Rove or whatever. You did that on all your own.
Here’s what angered us. Being told over and over that as a country we’re evil, stupid, fat, selfish, illiterate. Having Michael Moore, Al Franklen, and other foreign pundits rubbing it in our faces repeatedly that we’re stupid, fat, and ignorant… and then expecting that we’d be moved to vote for them. The message from the Democrats was a clear “America should be more like Europe”.
Let me tell you, as someone who grew up in the heart of the evangelical community, this did NOT play well with Christians at all. Sweden’s jailing of that preacher got a whole lot of play in the evangelical media, as well as EU/Canada’s hate speech laws. That’s what caused the Christian/Catholic turnout.
Face reality… your candidates are unwinnable because they are out of the mainstream, and furthermore, they put Europe and Canada on a pedestal high over America. Bill Clinton was a right-of-center Democrat. Joe Lieberman was a right-of-center candidate, and would’ve routed yesterday. But, instead, you guys choose those nutting ravers, and you allowed Michael Moore to define yourself. It wasn’t Karl Rove who defined you as nutjobs. It was Michael Moore.
I looked at what the left is concerned about. The Left says they want to fix Iraq, health care, etc… but never said how they want Iraq to end, or how they would provide health care without sacrificing quality, competition, and with a minimal tax payout. Instead, I see that the left was directing their energies to>:
- My Pet Goat.
- Bush’s bulges and earpieces.
- [link=http://www.environment2004.org/]Bush made hurricanes happen.[/link]
- Halliburton.
- LIHOP.
- Forging memos for CBS.
- Going through every minutae of his National Guard service.
- Kitty Kelley… Bush is gay, had an abortion, etc.
You’ll no doubt howl how wrong I am, but the election spoke for itself:
You guys were winning handily with Clinton and the “New Democrats” strategy.
You guys got trounced big for using Kerry, the most liberal senator in the Senate, with the backing of Michael Moore, etc.
Feel free to test out my theory by nominating Joe Lieberman in 2008. I’ll be the first to campaign for him.
Ya, and the SDMB Merry Fellowship of Conservative Yeomen doesn’t actually rejoice in civilian casualities or ‘bigotry’ or microwaving puppies or any of the other evils that are thrown at our feet, but there you have it.
P.S.
Shodan, ‘Donut Lord’ is a euphemism for ‘Michael Moore’.
Well, glad to know that I could entertain you. That’s why I’m here, you know.
Yeah, maybe the liberals on this board are a little unhinged, but the Bush supporters have proved themselves to be a bunch of smarmy bastards who can’t keep themselves from gloating. I mean, duffer just started like, what, the fifth thread that’s basically just saying “Bush won, yay!” in MPSIMS.
You won. I realize that. Just stop being such fucking pricks about it, god damn.
Did Dearly Departed Comrade December send you? He did, didn’t he!? You are like the SDMB equivalent of a singing telegram or something, right? I should have known; nobody could seriously be such a laughable dork!
Fuck it, I’m out of here. I don’t need to take insults from someone like you. I have too much self respect for that.
But some of will admit to sometimes liking the roasting of marshmallows.
And I figured out Donut Lord = Michael Moore all by myself.
Not that it was a great leap of intuition, or anything…
But you don’t seem to have so much self respect that you won’t make yourself look like a fool for saying something like “fuck every Bush voter on this board.” Pot, kettle…kettle, pot.
Besides, I know there aren’t that many Bush votes here, but still…every one of us?
Yeah…all five of us???

Better eat some oysters first or something…
…Anyone see a party hat? I left one around here somewhere…
An excellent post, Dre2xl.
Possibly not. I am happy we are part of the coalition of the unwilling though.
Good luck with the terrorist thing. I’m sure they are all just thrilled Bush won.
[c]Continuity_Error** can have his/her way with the other Bush voters, but I have dibs on ** Brutus**. First a back rub, a little light kissing. . .
And yes, dre2xl wrote an excellent post that, I’m sorry to say, was spot on.
Though the sentiment of your post was nice, the USA is not the hope for much of the world. It is filled with lovely people but it is not what we all hope for.
Much of the world feels hostility towards the US. Many others the see it as a scarey political force and the place to buy junk to fill our tv stations and fill our movie cinemas.
I’m scared for the US because I think they just esculated the “war on terror” and the right to impose your religous and or moral beliefs on others. Good for you if that is what you need.
It is just not a democracy I hope for. My country may be no better in many respects but please don’t think the rest of the world is holding America up as some beacon. Not just because of this result but because we never did. We have always been happy with our own democractic selves.
Those countries living under dictators and the like, they didn’t want to emulate America specficaly just democracy in general.
America is a conservative country. Progression in social acceptance moves slowly.
Good luck.
Out of interest, if somebody was being stupid, fat and ignorant, how would one convince him to stop being so?
Too late.
thanks Republicans, I have another 4 years of being scared shitless that Bush is going to fuck the world up at any moment.
Thanks Republicans, for another 4 years of the War on Terrah! which is about as successful as your War on Drugs.
thanks Republicans, for another 4 years of “Spreading Freedom and Democracy to rouge regimes”, unless of course the rouge regime is in allied countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Pakistan.
thanks republicans, for another 4 years of repression of the advancement of medical sience.
thanks Republicans, for another 4 years of homophobic legislation and repression.
you’ve maid your bed, be happy to lie in it.
Insert correct spelling where necessary. made, not maid.
