My fellow SDMB Republicans, it is time once again for the Republican Happy Dance®!!!

Oh, horseshit. They took 6 or 7 years to plan the 9/11 attacks. You don’t learn to fly a plane overnight. The planning and execution of the attack on the USS Cole occurred while Bill Clinton, a middle of the road Democrat, was in office.

Democrat or Republican – they didn’t give a shit. And bin Laden said as much in his statement last week. We either reverse our strong alliance with Israel or they’ll continue to attack us.

True, but having the army of the Great Satan on Iraqi soil doesn’t help any.

And you wonde rwhy we don’t really give a flying fuck what the rest of the worlkd thinks of us?

Well, I’ll offer one possible advantage. What language are you speaking? Oh, yes, English. Not German. You pay homage to the Queen (I notice your location is England), and not the Fuhrer, right? Can those of non-Aryan ancestry live in your country? May those of non-Christian faith worship freely there? Yes? Mine, too. And in the other European countries, I’ve been told. Have you really read anything about what the Allies found in those concentration camps, and still think it was not worth it? I’d bet your parents and grandparents might disagree with you.

VCan we all just agree that “moral issues” is really just code for “we hate fags?”

There’s nothing “moral” about it. Bush used anti-gay bigotry to energize his base and appeal to the worst instincts of the rabble. It wasn’t a “moral” issue, it was a hate issue. Hate is always a very effective political tool. It worked for Hitler too and he also framed it as a “moral” issue.

Honestly, my mother was one of those who said “moral issues” to a pollster. But that was only because the list of choices presented was terrible. There was a “religious faith” choice, you’d think that those 60 million people would’ve picked that way over moral issues if fundamentalism was really their primary motive.

I don’t know what answer I would’ve picked, myself. I don’t remember all the choices, but they were all vague and touched upon none of the issues I was concerned about. I would’ve said “Better manicure” just to mess with their minds.

No, actually we can’t.

I’d put moral issues as one of my top things, and I support SSM.

Did you vote for the guy who wants to change the Constitution to ban it?

No; but I’d reckon some did.

As this gay points out, moral values can mean any number of things, from abortion to “say what you mean and mean what you say” to who knows what.

I personally think Kerry should have said he supports gay marriage, (while hastening to add that its a state’s issue). When he says he doesn’t its obvious he’s pandering, and that makes him look dishonest. I’ve met a number of Bush voters who voted pretty much on “He tells me what he really believes in.” For many people, that sort of thing falls under “moral issues.”

If John Kerry were elected, the army of the Great Satan would still be in Iraq. Now that we’re committed, there is no easy way to extract ourselves out of there without one hellacious mess. We’re damned no matter what we do. And we were damned before we ever set foot in Iraq. Remember that the first bombing of the World Trade Center happened over a decade ago. We will be vulnerable to terrorists as long as we remain an imposing presence in the Middle East. Unless and until we find an alternative energy source, we will remain an imposing presence. We are like a couple who’d like to get a divorce because we really can’t stand each other, yet neither of us can afford to leave. Our economies are hopelessly co-dependent on each other.

The terrorists are violent versions of Michael Moore and Bill O’Reilly. They loathe the “evil opposition”, yet it is that evil opposition who empowers them. Bin Laden sent a taunting message out before our election to assure us that no matter who we voted for, he’d continue on his merry campaign of terror. Because, IMO, he believed that Americans were under the delusion that a vote for John Kerry meant that he’d be appeased. Anyone who thinks that anything we do will appease bin Laden, short of nuking Israel to smithereens, does not understand the mindset of a terrorist. They get off on power. And what could be more powerful than being at the very top of Great Satan’s Most Wanted List?

I’m one of them.

Hitler talked about what he really believed in.
If what you really believe in is immoral then there is no moral vrtue in stating it.

Bush said he “really believed” that Iraq was a threat to the US, by the way. We now know that was a lie, so it turns out that he doesn’t really tell us what he really believes in…not all the time anyway…and not when it matters most.

You’re saying that wirth a straight face, aren’t you?

If he really believed it was then not a lie.

I gasp. I swoon. I plotz.

Despair.

Aw man, I’m so happy for you folks! w00t w00t!

Now run along and fix the deficit, end the Iraq war, reason with N.Korea and Iran, push for smaller government, reinstate my freedom by scaling down that fucking Patriot Act, lower my taxes, resurrect 1100 soldiers and 100k Iraqis’ (Ask Jesus, he’s got a recipe for it, I think) and fix my fucking healthcare premiums.
Also, my yard needs cutting.

CHOP, CHOP! No one is cock-blocking you now.

All I ask is that you let me keep the freedom of not bringing a child into a Republican owned country.

kthx!

Here’s a wacky idea. Maybe we should stop creating our own problems.

We helped Saddam
We helped Osama
We’re helping Musharraf

Get the pattern?

A condom or a plane ticket will help you on that one.

Because most people who have emerged from puberty are capable of seeing that electoral politics aren’t about good v. evil. They are disputes between people who love their country but have different values and visions.

A UK poll today showed [last time I looked] that 89% of the people here wanted British troops out of Iraq. So, no, apart from Tony, I don’t think many of us are ‘thrilled’.
