My first emergency repair in the new house; a handy MMP

See, that’s what I’m thinking–but it doesn’t make it right or anything. And factor in the many, many lectures I have endured about losing my patience over the years. Grrr.
Well, enough therapy for one day. See how multi-faceted the MMP is? Laughs, puns, reptiles (must we have reptiles?), recipes and therapy. It’s all good.
This is how I am NOT putting together an Ikea bookcase. Off to be productive. I will have pic of kitchen soon, I promise!

I for one welcome our new reptile overlords.
And all this stuff about nutjobs. It’s not right, I tell ya - you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. You’re not being nearly juvenile enough!

What’s wrong with reptiles? Cats poo and it is SMELLY and then dogs eat the smelly cat poo. “Ooo! Tootsie Rolls!” Gimme a lizard any day.

That’s called the Circle of Life.

Dang, what nutjob ordered all this humidity here?? I came out of my nice, air conditioned office and about drowned on all the moisture suspended in the oppressively hot air. Last week, I had all the windows open, airing out the house. Today, I’m thinking of setting the air conditioner on a colder temp so it’ll run longer and dry the air more.

Stoopit summer.

On the other hand, it’s one day closer to Friday. One long, steamy, boring day closer.

On still another hand, I’m getting some free furniture tomorrow. A lady at work is giving away an entertainment center (a small one) and a small desk. I can set up the desk in the guest room and set up my old computer. And we can get the TV off the crappy, legless credenza thing and put in in the entertainment center, if it’s big enough. If not, it’ll go in my studio for storing clay stuff. Either way, I win.

It got really hot and humid here all of a sudden too. And they’re talking about upper 90s and maybe even 100 here Friday or Saturday. Everyone kept saying how cold it was going to be when I moved to MN. Um… right. Cold winters, yes. But the summer is frickin’ hot! (But that’s ok because my apartment has a pool! )

My parents’ anniversary is coming up. What should I get them? I’m not going to see them until August so something that would ship well would be good. Probably something consumable since they’re moving soon and don’t want more stuff that has to be moved. They’re really hard to buy for jointly because they don’t like much of anything that the other likes. :smack:

Mine does too. I s’pose I ought to go jump in it before we move out next weekend, since I ain’t been in it yet…

My house has a pool. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m cooking pepper steak and rice for supper. Might make biscuits too. Don’t know, cause it’s hot and the oven will just heat up the kitchen. They’d be good though. Hmmm… I do have some of those frozen biscuits and I need to use 'em. Ok, I talked myself into it. Off to “make” some frozen biscuits.

Yum-yum…can I come to your house for dinner? Mr. Taters would probably like some too. It might take us awhile though; seein’ as how you live so inconveniently far from us.

Ooh, I am so late for the MMP! Wasn’t feeling that well yesterday, stayed home, but didn’t do much posting anywhere. Hi to everyone, and here’s my little surprise that made my day today:

About a year ago, my supervisor brought me two key chains from Disney World–Mickey and Minnie–stuffed toy ones, about 3-4 inches tall. I loved them!! Mickey is hanging from my coin purse even now. But I wasn’t satisfied with Mickey and Minnie - I wanted Donald Duck!

Ever since, I’ve been practically begging anyone going to FL–well, at least close to Orlando–to please bring me back a Donald Duck key chain. I’ve looked for them online, unsuccessfully. Well, last week one of my friends and co-workers went to Orlando on vacation, and one of her destinations was Disney World. Naturally, I asked (nicely!) for the Donald Duck key chain, but frankly I didn’t hold out much hope of her remembering it, much less bringing it back. We usually lunch together every day, and today (her first day back … and I hadn’t even asked her about the key chain, believe it or not!), when she came to get me for lunch, I walked into the lunch room and there was the little Disney World bag sitting at my usual place. YES!! She remembered, and I’ve got my Donald Duck key chain!!! He is so cute LOL he even has a small white feather tail!!! And yes, he does have his little sailor’s cap on his head. I must find a place of honor for him - I can’t attach him to my coin purse, because he’d get dirty!!! LOL I am beside myself.

Never thought something so small would bring me such joy. LOL

Well, at least lizzzrds have legs. I don’t like legless things, much. Ok-fish are fine in water and all…

I always thought that D. Duck was more a Warner Bros personality than a Disney one. Heh.

I have not quite finished the bookcase–it is from hell. Oh-it goes together easy enough. but I bought the oh so cool frosted glass doors to go with–I got both on, and then had to remove one (never mind), and now it won’t go on.

It feels like the bottom of the shower stall here today–debating whether to put the A/C on.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make your day…like surprise keychains! Yay tarragon!

taxi are there any food items that you can get in MN but not at home (and that your parents would like)?

I came home early and have accomplished a few things (I want to be ready for company tomorrow night today). Load of laundry in the washer. Dining room table cleared off (well, just about). Remaining recycling about to be put out. All shoes are now located in the shoe rack (imagine that!).

I’ve made a list of stuff to get from the grocery (appropriate beverages, missing ingredients for hummus, pita bread, other stuff I’ve forgotten) and a list of stuff to do in the house (hang a couple of new pics, dust, clean bathroom and kitchen, clear out fireplace). Also need to vacuum and move furniture around.

Off to clean up some more.

GT

I’d been looking into that, but so far all I’ve been able to come up with is wild rice, which doesn’t seem like a very exciting anniversary present: “Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad, here’s 5 lb of wild rice for you!” And MN isn’t a big wine state, and the few vinyards that are around here don’t ship to NY. :frowning:

I like lizards and snakes and cats and dogs, so there! My ex Robin had two ball pythons, Hack and Slash, and they were so nice. I used to put one on each arm and they would curl up around my wrists like bracelets. Unfortunately their boxes were right by the couch, so when we would sit on the couch and er, make out, they would creep up, nose the lids off, and peek out at us. Little scaly voyeurs.

**LiLi, Taters, ** I’m still working there till the end of next week. The work I came there to do is over, but they are keeping me busy doing a bunch of filing and such. I guess they like me or something.

**Twinkie, ** I’m glad you read Deerskin. I love it, though it’s very intense.

Well, duh, whe you’re talking about **Daffy, not Donald

Yeah Herbs it’s those little surprise things that can really make your day.

Taters we already et, but there’s leftovers so y’all come on down. We’ll leave a light on.

Rigs doors are satanic. That’s all you need to know about 'em.

gt if you move your furniture over the spots that need to be vacuumed, then you won’t have to vacuum. I really do need to write that book of helpful household hints.

taxi Minnesota is the land of the hotdish, so there’s bound to be a recipe book of nuttin’ but hotdishes. Or bars. Minnesota ladies are big on bars. Or a gift certificate for Norwegian lessons. You just have to get creative is all.

I am one hurtin’ FCM:frowning: But it’s mostly a good hurt, or so I’m trying to tell myself. My therapists (I dealt with 3 today) added 7 exercises to my routine - four for motion and three for strength. Plus the main therapist did some manipulation on my shoulder - that’s what really hurts like crazy. She spent close to 15 minutes (I’m guessing) moving my arm around, bending and stretching and pulling and pushing and all sorts of things. It really got my attention while she was doing it, and try as I might, I couldn’t relax entirely. I did work on not holding my breath, so there’s that.

The ice pack and zapper thingy were nice. And I’m thinking I’ll have a handful of tylenol with my ice cream tonight. I also lucked out - someone canceled on Thursday, so I can have all 3 sessions this week. Yay.

It’s gonna take a while, but as God is my witness, I will be able to scratch my own butt again!!!

Kinda makes you understand why Bernie likes those butt skritches so much don’t it?

You want God to witness you scratching your butt?
“Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Butt-Scritcher?”
Am I going to Hell for this?

Nah - but you might spend a few months in Heck. Listening to whiny teenagers. No big.
