My Friend Became a Trumpist Last Year, and I Lurk His Facebook Page

He was always a bit of a conspiracy theorist, but it wasn’t something that he was outspoken about. While I have known him since HS in the 80’s, I didn’t really get to know him until '05 or so. I thought that he had a bit of smarts, but I don’t believe that any more.

He had been a Bernie Bro up until last summer, and then he not only became a Trump supporter, but he became a very vocal one, particularly on Facebook. I called him out when he made a claim about Hillary being more racist than Trump because of her connection to Robert Byrd. I had a back and forth with him there for a day or so and, knowing that it it was pointless haven’t really engaged with him since.

However, I am compelled to check his FB page because it is filled with more half baked, conspiracy ridden things than one could imagine. Without further ado, here is a sampling:

Globalist plan in a nutshell:

1. Seed anti-patriotism & division via Cultural Marxism in school system.
2. Destabilize Middle East. Then import/instigate Islamic terrorism to destabilize western nations.
3. Initiate elimination of national sovereignty via stalking horse organizations like the UN & European Union.
4. Loot/cripple economies with carbon taxes. Ramp up terrorism until militarized police state required.
5. As financial chaos and violence peaks, propose and institute globalist government as only stabilizing solution.
   Good plan. And they would have gotten away with it if not for the Trump card. Now their plans will systematically fail. We have their playbook. We’re a much better team. And they’re on our timeline now, we’re not on theirs.

Trump was absolutely right to criticize the Mayor of London. If it was one of your kids that got blown up with a nail bomb, you might want your leaders to take what is happening more seriously and not be told to accept it as a way of life in the city. But before Khan was Mayor he was a lawyer that represented a 9-11 terrorist and other radicals, so maybe this is not an issue he feels comfortable taking a stand on. There are 23K known jihadists in Britain. They just let 400 ISIS soldiers back into the country after a war in Syria. Leaders like Khan don’t seem to care about the safety of their own citizens. Donald J. Trump is 100% in the right on this issue. Immigration into the US is not going to stop. There will be 1 million immigrants a year just like there always are. But during a time of high level terrorist agitation like now, there needs to be extreme vetting. Unless you’d like to put your own children at risk, because you never know what city might be next if you are not in control of who is coming in and out of your country. And as far as Assange, we know where he got the DNC leaks from: Seth Rich, the DNC staffer who supported Bernie and was disgusted by the corruption within his own party and wanted to expose it. Then he got whacked, in a so called ‘robbery’ in which his wallet, phone and watch were left untouched.

And one more:

Trump isn’t corrupt. He had already won in every way imaginable in American life. He has a beautiful family. And before he took on the powers that be, he was admired by most people as a world renown symbol of a successful businessman. He put all of this on the line, including his life, to stand up for the American people. He’s a true hero in my eyes and the only President worth voting for since I have been alive. This may not be the consensus view of him now, but he’s only just begun. A total reformation of the system is taking place as we speak.

I won’t wade in the waters because it would be a huge waste of time for me, and would only wind me up, so I avoid it; but I can’t help myself from looking at what idiocy he happens to spew.

I’m not sure, Octopus. I have a couple of friends that both unfriended Charles due to his posting, and I sometimes share screen shots with them in PM’s that we chuckle over. But each of us are still a bit taken aback at the level of his crazy, after having lived with him, and spent many years as close friends.

Maybe I’m just looking for an outsider’s perspective, someone who doesn’t know Charles, to offer an opinion on what he has to say.

I have relatives like Charles. They say the craziest stuff about Obama or Hillary. I try to explain to them that getting all their news from one biased source that makes money by being outlandish and notorious is probably not the best way to inform themselves.

So I challenge them to read stuff they disagree with. I ask if there is any policy their political opponents are for that they agree with. It doesn’t work that well but I think the civil and diverse dialogue is more healthy than refusing to engage and having people form self selected hive minds.

I’ve got a friend who’s a 9/11 Truther and Trump voter. He’s also a former meth addict, which I’m pretty sure is related. Thing is, he’s not stupid. He’s in a D&D game I run, and he’s really good at problem solving, figuring our riddles, and thinking tactically. Also, he’s a talented carpenter, and a decent artist. But something in his brain just doesn’t work when it comes to rationally evaluating claims.

Cut all your Trumpist friends and family from your life. Make the social cost for supporting Trump too big to bear. This is the only way some people will get it, and if they don’t, well at least less Trump apologists in your life

He’s long bought into the CT of Clinton Murders, which pushed him forcefully into Trump’s camp. He’s also a quite a misogynist.

White, middle aged, divorced. He’s lived in 4 or 5 different states. He has traveled quite a bit, hiked through 2 states on the Appalachian Trail, spent lots of time in Costa Rica as he married a Tica. Doesn’t work with metal.

He actually has a bit of talent, a bit, as a screenwriter.

Because you don’t understand what is happening. Turn off CNN and MSNBC and do some real research. The Paris Accord has nothing to do with preventing actual climate change. It is about a massive transfer of wealth from the U.S. to other pockets, while looking away at countries like China and India that are gigantic carbon polluters. Not even looking the other way- giving them money! Trump is renegotiating the deal to actually make sense and not punish the U.S. for already being a leader in clean energy. Fortunately, you can afford to heat your home in the winter, but there are others that will literally die from some of the restrictions imposed. Yes, we are going to make the transition to new energy technologies and the U.S. will lead the way, via a platform of prosperity and old energy. The Dow went to a record high today when we pulled out of this ridiculous agreement that is lining the pockets of leaders heavily invested in oil and gas. Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. He has my support and eventually, years from now, everyone is going to get it.
