I assume this just happened? Don’t discount that suicide is “contagious” - many a high school has had a string of losses because one student reached his or her edge. I would not be surprised if there is a large uptick after a public figure like Robin Williams taking the exit.
I’m sorry for your pain. I do agree with those who feel suicide is more of a rip-off of those left than a cop-out of the one who leaves.

I remember reading that when coal gas (super lethal) was eliminated from ovens and replaced with natural gas (much less lethal), the suicide rate overal dropped a significant amount. Especially in the UK, where a gun wasn’t available in 1/3 to 1/2 of houses like they are in the US.

I wonder how many gun suicides are spur of the moment decisions that could be reconsidered if we didn’t have the ability to spread our innards outward in a microsecond.

FWIW, my son-in-law’s brother was recently found dead. Not a suicide per se, but all indications are he drank himself to death.
This was a guy who had a wife who adored him and a 9-year-old daughter who thought he walked on water. He was very close to my son-in-law and their parents, and by all indications successful in his business. He was also a widely admired and respected musician.
Everyone was left wondering how, in the face of this, he could let this happen to himself. Everyone is still searching for answers at this point. I hope some will be forthcoming, for both our family and for yours.
