My gadgets are destroying my mind...

I have a remote keyless entry thingie for my car.

Why do I point it at my house’s front door and think it will unlock it?

I have DVR.

Why do I think I can rewind the radio in my car?

What else will these new cool toys do to my poor head??

Because you long for one of these?

I’m always wanting to reboot things, like the phone or the car.

I save darn near every missive (e-mail, letters) that I create on my computer, and I’ve often lamented not being able to do the same for handwritten stuff, telephone conversations, etc. (Yeah, I could scan/record it or take notes, but that’s too much trouble. With e-mail and WP docs it’s automatic.)

I try to rewing live TV also, even though I don’t have a DVR. Too much time spent watching VHS/DVD.

Beware! As soon as they have turned you and the other workers into vegetables, they will take over the means of production and rule humanity. What ever you do, just don’t get one of those machines that you put food in, that cooks it quickly at the touch of a button. Wait… What?

You are far from alone in that one. At least once a day:

“Hey, I think the guy on the radio just said something interesting, but I wasn’t paying attention. No problem, though…I’ll just hit the ‘eight second rewind’ button and then I’ll…ahhhh, crap”. :smack:

Ooh! Shiny!

I want to press the ‘panic’ button on my key thingy and have my car give me a nice cup of chamomile tea and a cookie. But all it does it make horrible loud noises at me while I’m fumbling with the grocery bags. This is not helpful.

(I do the door thing, too.)

Now, that would be nice.
(Okay, now that I’m giggling madly I have to go get mail, and see who in my building I can scare… I mean, why waste it?)

My car remote almost got me into trouble when I accidently hit the “horn” button when I was walking toward it in a parking lot and some folks were right in front of the car. Scared the crap out of them. I stupidly then got into the car instead of walking anonymously past it, so they berated me and took down my license plate(!), thinking I did it maliciously.

And then the numerous times when I pull out of a parking space, drive a ways, and realize that I had hit the rear (station wagon) hatch door button and the door was up in the air.

I think I’ve caught myself reaching for a “toolbar” to select, smooth over, or undo things when sketching with a pencil and paper.

I often find myself reaching for the Save button.
