I’m so sorry for your loss, Zoid…
zoid:
Mary Elizabeth Fleming Greifenkamp was 102 years old.
She raised 8 children after her loving husband died at a young age of a heart attack.
She saw them through wars, the great depression, good times, and bad.
She died August first, 2012. The exact same day her husband died years earlier.
She was grandmother to 26 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
She drank Chevas Regal on the rocks with a lemon peel twist. She drank rarely but when she did she was unashamed to say she deserved it.
She was active in her church her entire life and was faithful to the end.
She was stubborn but loving, generous to a fault, and more patient than any of us deserved.
She was my Grandmother.
I miss her.
A grand ol’ lady indeed, zoid .
You will miss her, always. I’ve missed my Great Grandma for almost four decades now; my grannies for 20 years. Doesn’t matter that you’re 45 - she was always your Grandmother, and somehow they always make you feel like a kid inside. So I think that along with mourning the loss of them, we wave goodbye to that little kid who always had their grandma.
Hugs.
And I don’t know about taking your twins to her funeral; knowing that she died is one thing, seeing a coffin is quite another. Take them to the wake. That’s the nice part.
