My homepage

wooo I’m impressed too, and as your best friend I thought I knew all about you. I remember the song very well. Don’t have to worry about my asking to touch you, I remember the night you ran nekkid through the forums and I had to keep you covered.

Wow. I can’t even write a decent grocery list and YOU and your buddies write Top Hit songs way back when. I am in awe of your greatness!

The photo alone is worth a million dollars.

I have a great idear,my dear aha! when[ Cervais sells his screenplay have him put “Western Union” or other great songs of yours in the sound track. I can see a truck load of royalties coming to your door then!

BTW, I really like the name “The Mutineers.” So Sixty-ish. Why the name change?

Shirley:

An attempt to fight the british rock tide in the 60’s. Even though the look of the day required us to have long hair we just wanted everyone to know that we were an “american band.”

Besides when we first got together and played a few bars some drunk guy called us Roastineers. A fight ensued. Drunk guy lost. We tended to stick together.

I hear this song on a weekly basis, I live in SW Ontario but for no good reason listen exclusively to a Cleveland Oldies Radio Station, when I am on my computer. I hear that song all the time, it’s great.

Your cool factor has gone way up now.

And I am old enough to remember when it was on the radio the first time. Yikes!

elbow thanks! please call and request it if you have a chance. I make money when they play it.

Well, this is lame. I was hoping that I would be the one to break the news.

Of course, I knew about this for some time now, and let me tell you, it was difficult to act nonchalant with aha, knowing that he was a rock and roll star.

Incidentally, I heard “Western Union” a couple of times on 1050 CHUM, but I never hear “I Saw the Light.”

Think I’ll call in a request.

Shayna,

Oh heck, sure you can touch me. I let all the guys who were at HouDope 7, part 2 Sunday touch me, so I don’t see why you shouldn’t too.

I knew about this before anyone! aha had the foresight to come out to me, a fellow music business professional, in private conversation.

aha, as I replied back to you, it’s cool to have you on here! You’re beutiful, man! Don’t ever change! I’ll have my people call your people, okay? We can do lunch or something. Want any blow?

Yer pal,
Satan

I HAVE BEEN SMOKE-FREE FOR:
One month, 20 hours, 35 minutes and 27 seconds.
1234 cigarettes not smoked, saving $154.29.
Life saved: 4 days, 6 hours, 50 minutes.

Wow, I too am impressed. Being completely un-artistic I am in continual awe of anyone who is.

I would like to start a clamor for a . . . REUNION TOUR! I look forward to seeing you at my local county fair.

Also, my ex-wife once requested your song from an oldies station in Seattle. If you ever run into her you might consider giving her a kick-back. .03 would be fair, but since she is my EX-wife I suggest .02.

Well, Im still kinda weirded out after seeing the kind of questions aha wrote when he first came on & now all of a sudden this Five American thing. Hmmmm

Handy don’t be weirded out…When I first came on here I saw a form to ask things I would never ask in person just to see what people would say…I wasn’t disappointed.
And I am not running for office so who cares?

Thanks Wally I hope you do request it. I see the light was not huge in Canada but it did ok.

Satan:

I don’t know what blow is but it sounds really groovy

Hoo Ha,

I see in your FAQ that you get some 5000 airplays a month. Are you the only one getting royalties, or do you split? Is this actually a living, or is it more of a penny for a rainy day?

Just curious, just trying to put things into perspective - of course, I understand if you don’t want to answer.

It might not surprise you that I had never heard of the Five Americans, being a Dutchman born in the Seventies

SunDazed : The Five Americans

CDNow : Western Union (with samples)

aha, if your gonna self promote go all the way man!!

Coldfire…There were three of us that wrote. BMI ( Broadcast music inc.) uses DJ logs and random sampling to figure my radio airplay royalties. An average quarter usually brings in around 2000.00 split three ways of course that is about 600.00-700.00 in my pocket every quarter. Sometimes its more, but rarely less in the last few years with the proliferation of oldies stations. The problem is however, I have to walk all the way to the mail box to get the check.

Believe it or not my biggest foreign checks ( figured in with domestic checks and displayed on a computer read out sheet) are from Holland. My song Western Union was covered there by British group *The Searchers * in the 70’s ( Needles and Pins) I think it was a local hit all over again by them, so consequently more plays on the song in your territory.

I got a movie royalty this month from Brazil…8 cents…apparently part of my song Western Union was featured in a film down there…go figure.

Anyway this is not a living…not with my kids! But it does buy baby a new pair of shoes once in awhile and now that I am going to acutally receive SALES royalties I may just make it a living… probably not tho.

I hope I answered your questions.

oh and here is an interesting statistic…according to BMI… Million-air status ( one million radio plays) is the equivalent of someone playing a record over and over back to back for 5 and one half years without stopping.

Useful info eh?

aha’s personal site, since I’m not used to vB yet and was wondering where this “new” homepage was…

Well I certainly remember “Western Union”, and I am impressed, but not because of your music, but because I managed to ride your coat-tails and be 1 of the 19 Cecil Adams has personally welcomed to the board. Ironically my dear Mr. hoo-ha, he spelled my name lswote right. And to think I predicted you wouldn’t get welcomed.
