Well I use to play a bit of rock music. Seems I got lucky in the late sixties and wrote a few hit records. Also sang and played them. I told Wally that I was not going to put this on here but circumstances have changed. You see I didn’t use to get sales royalties from my songs but only recently my crooked ex-manager passed away. I think they had to screw him in the ground to bury him. Young and stupid, we signed away ours sales royalties to him for monthly incomes when we signed his record contract in the sixties.
However since his passing things have changed. My songs have only recently been bought by Music & Media in LA and I now get royalties! My songs are now found for sale on Sundazed Music label. There are two album compilations out now and the fact is…when people order them I make a few dollars. After reading about Eve’s post about her book ( which I am going to order by the way) I was inspired to post this.
A lot of you are probably too young to remember my music but if you listen to oldies stations you have heard it.
Anyway I built a small homepage and I am putting it in profiles. If you care to, please visit.
Oh and my music can be ordered on line from Sundazed.com Just click on the link “sundazed cataloged by artist” link in the upper left-hand corner. Then click on The Five Americans. Sundazed is owned by Bob Irwin, tell him I sent you he’s a friend of mine.
Okay I don’t remember it, but being as hopelessly uncool as I am, I’m not surprised. I am impressed though by your personal modesty and awed to be in the presence (over the net anyway) of someone like you aha!
Is this for real? Or are you making it up? I want to know because I once sang for The Bartlett Sisters. Never heard of us, well whoever said fame was fleeting never heard of us either, but he got it right anyway. Maybe I should dig through the attic and post a website. What do you think? Can you bring the thrill back, or does it all seem distant now?
“Shayna: Cecil only greeted you cause you are beautiful”
You mean it wasn’t because I’m nice, or because I told him all the various ways he could bring me to the heights of ecstacy in his questionnaire? How do you know he’s even seen what I look like? Does it really matter?
And you still didn’t say I could touch you. You’re letting Ayesha.
Aha,
I am sooooo impressed. Of course, I’ve heard of The Five Americans…and I remember the song ‘Western Union’. Unbelievable. You said you were in a rock band when you were younger, but you never mentioned that you were ‘popular’. WOW!!! I will most definately visit the site and check out your offerings. I listen to oldies all the time…they take me back.
I have a cousin who is in a band and they are just starting to really make a name for themselves. It’s been a long haul for him…(he’s nearly 40)…the name of his band is SkaDaddyz…and he’s broke through to the top 40 overall on MP3.com.
I think it’s awful that you never recieved the royalties before this…congratulations on the death of your manager!
And to think…I know you, kinda.
You can touch me anytime!!! learae
Do it Fanny may! I got to see my old keyboardist band mate when the two of us played as “the five Americans” in the legends of rock golf tournament charity last year in SC for burned kids. It was a gas…we were backed up by none other than Shadows of Knight (G-L-O-R-I-A)

Well I have been getting airplay royalties over the years just not sales royalties. Western Union was played 15000 times last quarter in the US and Canada. At 6 cents a play you do the math.
Congrat’s man! The dream of every musician. I’ll look forward to VH1’s “Behind the Music” to document your fast success, life of excess, sudden fall and ultimate come-back!
Seeing that you’re a world-famous rock star could I get an autographed album or concert poster from you?
Oh, yeah, and if you’ve got your own band, what’s up with riding off the success of this band?
