I have my Hotmail account set so only those who are on my list can send me emails…to avoid getting spammed to death
I just checked Hotmail and I had several emails in the Draft folder
How did they get through? These were NOT something I had sent to someone…they were porn spams sent TO me
Can I expect in the near future a million spams as other people figure out how to do this?
Is there anything I can do to stop it?
When you set up the account, did you check to see what the owners could do with the account? It is my understanding that unless you tell them not to do it, Hotmail adds your account to their mail lists.
Once done, you are forever on a list somewhere. Now that you are receiving porn email, it will never stop.

I know every once in a while Hotmail will change your preferences to allow for “selected” spam and you have to go back and recheck the box again but I checked this and it’s fine
I still get NOTHING except announcements from MSN in my IN folder just the Draft folder
How are they getting past the supposed lock out and putting things into my Draft folder?
It is SUPPOSED to ONLY let through emails from specific addresses on my OK list
I’m reaching here, but is it possible that your own email address is on your approved list? There are some spamming programs which put the recipient’s email address in the From: field in order to get around spam filters.
That does sound weird. I get just under a hundred spams on my Hotmail account, but they go right into the inbox or the junk mail folder. I’ve never seen anything in a “draft” folder. I would guess that this folder would only be used for emails that YOU yourself were sending. My guess is that your email has been hacked by a spammer?
I used to get emails from a friend who was on my allow list and occasionally they would go into the Draft folder too
I accused her of going into my Hotmail and looking around and forgetting she was in MY Hotmail account(she had my password)…sending stuff from MINE
She was NOT pleased to be so accused
These I have been getting lately are definitely spams(porno spams to be precise)
Once in a while I will get spams in my Sent folder too
I just checked to see if my own email was on my Safe list and it is not
Strange thing is I seem to have several filters set up that I did NOT set up…may be why whatever was getting through was going to Draft or Sent folders
Doesn’t explain how they got past my Safe list in the first place though
Maceman Change your Junk mail filter to not allow anything except from those on your Safe list…that will get rid of all except those I seem to be getting
I hardly use my Hotmail in the first place…whenever I sign up for a board or something like that I put their email address on my Safe list…register…get my comfirmation email then remove the email address from the Safe list
A lot of places want your working email just so they can sell it to the spammers…that puts the kabosh on them right off the bat
This is why it worries me that someone found a way around my precautions
I am hoping that now that I removed the filters sending specific emails to various folders the spammers cannot get through anymore
I just wish I knew why whatever they did got past the first line of defense in the first place
Change your password. It was probably too easy to guess.
No I can’t believe that’s it…it is NOT a word…there are numbers and letters both lower case and upper case
Besides if someone DID figure my password for the purpose of spamming me I would be inundated with spams not get just enough to pique my curiosity as to how they are getting through
Exactly the same happens with my account. I have the filter set to highest - where only approved people can email. I still get a few spams. There is no way 1231sdykjdfgdd@bigpenis-net.ip is on my approved list, let me tell you that
