Demo, I’m with you. I can almost feel the IQ points slipping as this show plays out for its two hours. I will admit to having laughed at how stupid it is, though.
There’s got to be some sort of addiction thing going on here. There’s no rational explanation for it, so I am willing to accept irrational explanations, and that one will work.
As for the football - college, pro, he watches it all. At least that’s a real sport, though I’m not a football fan. The worst thing, though, is he’s a Detroit Lions fan. Gets kinda depressing watching them get slaughtered all of the time

Sure, it’s fake. Who cares?
You can’t tell me that falling 70 feet off of a scaffold doesn’t hurt, or that it’s totally fake (Bob Holly had his arm broken by Angle a while back…and look at Foley - the guys practically a walking scar).
The thrill of it is when you see your favorite wrestler come out, the tens of thousands of people cheering for him, and then he goes face-to-face with the baddest of them all. It makes for great television!
Now, the one thing that does need to be stopped is the imitation of it by young kids, who hurt and maim themselves. That’s not healthy. I commend the major wrestling organizations that put out messages saying “leave it to the pros”. I personally know someone who was blinded in his right eye when a broom handle that was weakened in the middle intentionally so it would break shattered and smashed his eye socket. Thankfully, it was temporary, but it could have meant the loss of an eye, or worse.
Anyway…
The best wrestler in WWF right now is Jericho. He’s as sharp on the mic as he is in the ring. Makes me laugh every time I see him. Okay, I’m done…I’m gonna go buy me a Jerichoholic T-shirt.
