My husband worked on something neat!

The US Census Bureau has quietly rolled out its API, which means data, data, data for open-government enthusiasts everywhere.”

My husband did that!

He’s been working on this “API” thing at the Census Bureau forever (with a team, obviously), and it’s apparently now officially a big thing (in the right circles). Seeing as there are a good number of programmer Dopers, I figured I’d share the article and show off a little.

And if anyone can tell me what it all means, you get bonus points!

Wow! Very cool.

Cool! More organizations should do this.

Very cool! I love it when I run across something I think is awesome and get to say “My SO did that!”

He wrote a thing that helps people write their own things to connect to the census via his thing.

I’m so very nervous for him. I hate releases. Now he’s gotta deal with all of the complaints. No matter how well he did it’s never enough!

Good luck to him!
