My Kindle died!

Luckily Amazon kindle support rocks. I chose to be contacted by phone, typed in my number and they called me! Talked me through a reset (which i’d already tried) and also a hard reset to factory settings, but the screen is shot. My new kindle is due to arrive on Saturday at no cost to myself. I am impressed!

So you’ve been rekindled?

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss.

Also my congratulations on the newest member of your gadget family.

bravo!

Last fall, I dropped my Kindle from my lap onto a hardwood floor. No major damage at first (there was a one-pixel wide line running down the right side of the screen that didn’t work anymore) but then the screen broke–I could just make out Jane Austen, but it didn’t work. So, figuring I was to blame, I bought a new one, without 3G to save some money. When I got it, it turned out I liked the 3G variant, so I figured I’d give Amazon a call to see if there was a chance they’d repair the old one. Got a lady on the phone, was walked through the various resetting steps. Then she asked me what I’d done wrong, and I said I’d dropped it. And then she said she’d send me a replacement, free of charge. 170€ saved, AND I got the no-questions asked refund for the one I’d bought. So: I second your praise of Amazon Kindle customer support!

(and went out and bought 20€s worth of Kindle books, of course…)

I went ahead and bought the 2 year extended warranty on my Kindle Touch. I thought it was worth it just in case it got dropped or damaged some other way.

Normally I refuse extended warranty’s. But the Kindle is more fragile and easily dropped. I’m glad to hear the customer service support is really good.

Sigh… I got porn stuck on my kindle.

I’ge tried deleting history, cleared cookies and cache.

But still that damn tab wants to open up every time I turn my kindle on.

you could try resetting to factory, tho u wud have to download ure books again and create collections etc

I had my first Kindle for thre days when I had left it on the couch and my husband placed his knee on it by accident. The screen was bust. Amazon basically said I was SOL, even wehn I offered to send the broken one in. I bought a second one and a sturdy case.
