My kitten is breathing kind of fast while sleeping. Seen this before?

Note: I got two new kittens 1 week ago. In that time, they have been to the vet twice and been examined. Nothing was mentioned about heart or lung problems at all by the vet.

My little girl kitten breathes really fast while sleeping. No wheezing, no gasping, no struggling for air. Plays normally, eats full meals(hungry kitty), and we don’t see her breathing like this while awake. Actually, it’s hard to see cats breathing while awake because we don’t see their little chests going up and down.

Anyway, she did have roundworms and received one round of deworming. ALL other worm-types were checked and came back negative, including heartworm and lungworm. She is heading back to vet on June 28 for a second round of deworming.

Here is a video of her breathing while sleeping last night. She obviously stirred when she realized I was looking at her, but she was peacefully sleeping(silently, too). No snoring, no gasping/wheezing.

Has anyone seen a kitten breathe like that while sleeping? She seems fine…

We have a year old kitten who breathed very fast while sleeping. It alarmed me at the time but he’s fine now.

I hope I am right in being comforted by the fact that she seems 100% fine at other times.

My adult kitteh Ursala does this. I was concerned at first, but it’s normal.

I agree with my esteemed colleagues: rapid breaths while sleeping are not unusual for kittens.

Insufficient evidence.
Please provide several more hours of video of her, both sleeping, eating & playing. And comparative video of the other one in the background.

I am afraid your kitten has an extreme case of cutie-wootiness.

She’s totally fine.

She sleeps with her eyes open?
