My law firm needs a smart file clerk

I’ve seen these job opening threads started before, so I’m assuming this is OK with the mods.

I work at an old established law firm in downtown San Jose. Our filing department needs one or two new people, and they’re not getting good resumes so far. I thought I’d drop a line here and see if any Dopers or their friends in the Silicon Valley area would be a good fit for this.

Although this person does not need a degree, he or she will have to be quite literate and sharp, as they will be dealing with voluminous filing of legal paperwork. The firm may also ask the person to relieve at the front desk, so they should be able to deal with clients professionally.

Cons of working here: It’s old-fashioned and kind of stodgy. This ain’t no dot-com genius playground.

Pros of working here: They’ve been here forever, they’re stable financially, and people aren’t expected to work until they die of exhaustion (i.e., no forced overtime). If you do a good job, you will have job security, as this place doesn’t tend to hire and fire at the drop of a hat.

If you or anyone you know is interested, drop me a line at the e-mail address in my profile.

Would this clerk be permitted to spend hours every day on company time posting to an internet forum?

I happen to live right here in San Jose, and have a BA in English. The type of job you mentioned sounds right up my alley. Check your e-mail.

Well, it’s not like dot-com “geniuses” can afford to be picky about where they work anymore.

Well, I’m still here, aren’t I? Actually, I don’t know that the file clerks get cut as much slack as we secretaries.

Incubus, I’m checking - nothing yet, though.

Give it a sec- it should be on its way now.

What’s the start date? I have a friend who is looking. Thanks!

Ok. Sent. Did you get it?

Yo, Incubus, it’s received and forwarded to the filing master. Thanks.

The start date is any time from now.
