This happened on Thranksgiving day/night after I had gotten 6 consecutive Lyft ride requests. This never happens, I do Lyft and Uber at the same time, and 90% of my requests are from Uber. I got a message from Lyft support that my account was temporarily suspended. No more details, they said I would get an email from the support team. Have not received it, and I have checked Spam folder.
My reaction then is the same as it is now - WTF! I have had several thousand rides and have never said anything to passengers even remotely personal or political. And on that night, I might have said 20 words to my passengers, they were on the phone the whole ride. What would constitute discrimination anyway? Refusing entry into my car for racial reasons? Refusing to go to a certain area of town?
I 'm guessing a passenger on a Lyft ride confused me with another Lyft driver, or that someone is trying to get a refund for their ride. This happened once to me on Uber when I was accused of being drunk. I can’t decide which of these 2 allegations is more absurd, but Uber reinstated my account after a 5 minute chat, which happened about 6 hours after the initial allegation.
Almost forget. They want to hear my feedack once I get the email, but they said a final decision has been made. How can they make a final decision if they haven’t talked to me?
Did you refuse a ride from someone with a guide dog? That seems to be a major problem with Uber and Lyft drivers refusing because they won’t allow dogs in their vehicles…even though the law says they have to.
I’ve taken 133 Uber rides. My stats show 129 5-star, two 4-star and two 1-star. I have only given 5-star reviews and tipped the maximum each time. Most of my rides have been uneventful and the few that weren’t were fun. I can’t imagine what prompted my 1-star reviews. People are strange.
When you give people who have no say in anything (say: Epsilons) power over other people (those don’t have to be Alphas, but it helps) they will sometimes misuse it. That is also fueling politics of resentment, much ot the delight of many populists.
The Uber model is resentment driven and populist. They also take an abusive cut, much too high. I have so far been able to avoid using Uber, let’s see for how much longer.
How do these happen? Can someone/anybody just say you discriminated against them? Does their have to be a documented assignment that you refused or drove them but they allege discrimination in the car?
That sounds to me like it was bogus from the start and likely unrelated to you at all. I wonder the same when my bank notifies me that they intercepted a fraud attempt or bad ATM transaction.
Finally got the response. Someone said I may have been speeding and that I made racist remarks. I respoded saying it was absolutely untrue. I felt like saying that whoever said it is a liar , instead I said I would give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they confused me with another driver.
