My mare died last night

She was a beauty. I’m sorry for your loss.

Dunno if this will offer comfort, but…

Aw, that’s terrible news. Hope Irish gets over his grief soon. :frowning:

Oh no! I gasped out loud when I read the title. I am SO sorry to hear this. More than a mare, you lost a life-long dream, and my heart aches for you.

:frowning: so sorry for your loss

I’m so sorry for you and Irish. What a terrible loss. :frowning:

I’m really sorry for you loss. It must be terrible for you and Irish.

Irish seems to have settled in the night. He’s out in the pasture by himself, just stading there. The minis are in the other pasture, which he has access to. They’re grazing in the shade, but he just seems dazed. I’ll bring him up soon to see if he’ll drink - it’s almost 90 degrees and I’m not sure he’s paying attention.

I still feel like I’ve been punched in the gut. It doesn’t help to have her body laying in front of the house waiting for the removal men.

Poor Irish. :frowning: My heart goes out to him.

I’m so sorry, StGermain. Will you ever find out what happened?

Hugs to you and your other beasts - I hope the pain passes soon for you all.

So sorry to hear this. My deep condolences to all of you.

Irish seems to be doing better, although after I fed him last night, he still went to the run in and called for her. Hopefully after a few more days he’ll be back to himself.

How horrible for you. I know that would devastate me. I’m so sorry. :frowning:

Surly chick - She’s supposed to be picked up today. I hope they do, after more than 2 days in the sun, it’s beginning to be unpleasant. That sounds heartless, and but it’s the unfortunate reality.

I’m so sorry. I feel really really bad for you and Irish. :frowning:

I’m so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I pray that Irish’s pain and loneliness, as well as your own, heals quickly. Animals become part of our souls.

Not heartless at all. Death is a reality, as is the aftermath, both physical and emotional.

Having to sit there and watch your beloved horse decompose is just beyond imagining. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.

Surly Chick - They picked her up yesterday while I was at work.

Irish is doing better, but still not himself. Normally when I got home, by the time I got my car parked and in the house to change out of my work shoes, Irish and Nalota were waiting at the back gate for dinner. When I got up in the morning, they were waiting for breakfast ( I had that foreboding when Nakota wasn’t waiting for me on Saturday). If I had to call them, they’d usually come trotting or cantering up. This morning I called Irish but he didn’t come (my heart just sank). I had to walk out to the pasture. After he saw me and I kept calling, he just sort on plodded in and ate. Plodding isn’t generally in the thoroughbred repetoire of gaits.

I was so sorry to read about this, poor Irish.
