Crossing my fingers that it all works out for Irish and Grace.
Best of luck to all of you. Will be waiting for pictures.
Any word yet on Grace?
I hope she works out for you. Let us know!
Grace should be delivered Sunday. But I found out after I made my offer for Grace that Georgiafina, Nakota’s 2008 baby is up for sale. I’m sure I won’t be getting her, but it let’s me see what might have been, especially as Odin, the stud I bred Nakota too was a chestnut, too. But I honestly don’t see myself spending $6K for a horse when I won’t compete.

Congrats on Grace! She has a certain something, doesn’t she? She looks like good folk.
I hope she makes a good friend for Irish.
Congrats on acquiring Grace! She sounds like she’s in good condition. I hope Irish and the little guys likes her, too.
She has a very kind face. I hope the 2 of you (and Irish!!) have a long, happy life together!
I’m so happy for you! And for Grace who has found a new home and for Irish who will have a new girlfriend! Post lots of pictures and updates please! Good luck on Sunday.
Grace was delivered today. Irish was tremendously excited when he saw her come off the trailer. Unfortunately, I think maybe he thought it was Nakota, because Grace is the same color and similar size. I had him in a paddock that adjoins my back yard. As I walked her down to the main gate, he raced up and down the paddock calling, and she was calling back. Good girl - the ill-fitting halter they shipped her in came off, when she wasn’t confined at all, but even with the drama she let me put the lead rope around her neck and lead her to the paddock I’m going to keep her in until the get to know each other.
After she was secure, I let Irish out of the paddock. He raced to her and they touched noses. Then I think he realized it wasn’t Nakota. He stayed there for a little bit, then walked away from her paddock. He is interested enough to keep her in sight, but he doesn’t seem to be hanging all over her. Which is probably for the best. He’s not aggressive, and he’s interested enough to keep an eye on her.
I took some picture (with her head in a bucket of feed), but it’s a new camera. I took maybe 8 pictures and it said the memory is full! What crap is that? I knew I’d need a memory card, but I expected better than that. When I get pics saved I’ll post them.

I am not a camera person, but perhaps check to see what size pictures it is set to take? I lowered mine so each would take up less space.
Most compact cameras have teensy-tiny amounts of internal memory, small enough that they might as well have nothing at all. Memory cards are absolutely required - 8 shots actually sounds better than average.
But that’s besides the point. Congratulations on your new horse!
Congratulations on Grace! She’s sweet looking. I hope she and Irish enjoy each other’s company for years and years.
Pics taken with new camera.
She could gain a few pounds. I’d be glad to donate.

I am sorry this has happened StGermain. You have my condolences.
Oh, no – I just now saw this thread, and my heart breaks for you, my friend. It’s almost seven years now since I lost my Nick and just today a bout of tears, unbidden, welled up over him; the raw fresh pain of Nakota’s loss must gnaw at you, even with your lovely new girl to offer comfort.
She’s nicely put together; her disposition sounds wonderful; and it’s good to hear that Irish is being drawn, however imperfectly at first, from his dull funk of grief. May he come to love Grace and find happiness in her company. I know you will.
She is a very pretty girl. I’m sure she will go a long way toward healing both you and Irish.
She sounds like a winner. She hasn’t even dumped her feed out of the bucket yet. I’m sure Irish will come to love her in time. Have the little guys met her yet?
Thanks, everyone - When I went down to feed, Irish was in the runin and Grace way in the back of her paddock. I think I"ll leave her up for another day, then turn them out together. Peanut (the mini gelding) was very interested in her. Daisy didn’t seem at all interested. I guess he was pulling away all the attention from her.

Gorgeous Grace is indeed, a little on the skinny side! Glad to hear that Irish is interested to meet her, and I hope that they will be BFFs soon.
Hey, StG, think you could start a new “Welcome Home” thread for Grace? I’d like to be able to follow her progress.
