I have a horrible time remembering things. I mean seriously I have gone out on dates where I couldn’t remember the girls name. I have gone to school for a whole semester with a class on a certian floor and the next semester I can’t remember what floor that class was on. It’s names mostly that I forget. Numbers seem to stick so do stories that I have read. Every day run of the mill stuff seems ok but other things like putting up a tent. I could put a tent up for a full year and with in 1 year completly forget how to do it. Is there any cause for this, should I get it checked out. Is there anybody else out there like me?
I tend to forget the names of everyday objects. Such as the phone, TV remote, curtains.
I’ll say “where’s the thing for changing channels?”
Sometimes I am almost like homer simpson - “Let’s go to that, place, where our beds and TV, is”
And I am only 24!
IANA doctor but I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Now I don’t feel so bad. I thought it was age. However, I have always, always had problems remembering names and faces. but, when I was a Revenue Officer with IRS I could remember the details of over 175 cases. Now that I’m older sometimes I forget the name of everyday things as well, just like Lobsang. And the other day I called the local gas station a Phillips and it’s a Mobile; and I called a man I knew as an acquaintance for 4 years by his brother’s first name. Embarassing. There are two women I listen to on the radio three times a week (anna bonokosky and andrea hunter) and it has taken me months to remember their names even though every time I listen I make it a point to try to remember their names. Sometimes the facts just pour forth and other days it’s like my mind just won’t cooperate. Also, I did read somewhere in years past that there is a condition where some people don’t have good face recognition. I definitely don’t.
