My oldest nephew is a college grad! And wants to work in Japan.

Erik (yes, that’s him in his car) graduated from Northern Illinois about a week ago with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I’m told he’s applied for a position in Japan as an English teacher, we assume he intends to use that as a springboard to get an engineering job there. The position won’t be interviewed until March.

Are any of our Dopers in Japan willing to give him a warm welcome if he manages to land the job?

Well, I’m not a Japan Doper, but my friend is doing the same program, hoping to teach English for a year. She’s leaving early January. Sounds like a safe and solid program, and I’ve only heard good things about Japan.

Congratulations to him on his engineering degree! Those are worth their weight in silicon, especially in Asia.
