I just recently sent the following letter to the ACLU and to NARAL Pro-Choice America. And I want to share it with you all too. Please read:
Dear ACLU/NARAL Pro-Choice America:
I am not a member now, that I am aware of (although I do often sign on to your actions). But I wanted to ask you a blunt question about President-elect Donald Trump. It will clearly be a long, hard road ahead for all us freedom lovers/NARAL: pro-choice people. Did you ever think of just reasoning with the man?
They were interviewing one of his supporters on ABC. And he brought up a good point. Mr. Trump is really neither a conservative nor a liberal. He is an independent, like most of us (including me even, sometimes). And surely he is not above some of the niceties of life, like respect and kindness.
Your “reasoning” with him could go something like this. Supreme Court vacancies. Does he really want to overturn Roe v. Wade? What if his wife, or his daughter, needed a therapeutic abortion some day? I trust you can see where this is going.
My mother used to tell me, as a child, you can attract more flies with honey than vinegar. And it still rings true today. (Besides, Mr. Trump is such a narcissist, fighting and criticizing him will only set him off more. I digress. But that’s true too.)
Thank you for your many years of service to this country,
[MY NAME AND LOCATION.]
I wasn’t sure if I should put it here, or in IMHO. But IMHO is for “less than cosmic” chatter. So I assume this is the correct place. As I said, it if for ACLU and NARAL. But it is for whoever reads it here too.
P.S. And I really didn’t mean to insult Mr. Trump. That “narcissist” part was just added for drama–and to let them know, I sympathize with them, if they feel that way.
My uncle told me you hold your ground, you keep reloading and you keep firing… as long as the ammo lasts.
Never give the NAZIS an inch; block them, stop them… any way you see. Even if it’s hand to hand.
…you seem to be naively under the impression that President-elect Trump is going to give a damn about the big issues and the day to day running of the country.
This is what the next President of the United States said on Twitter last night:
He is already in discussions to allow him to spend more time in New York than in the White House. He doesn’t give a shit. Trump isn’t in charge of the asylum any more.
At the moment the Trump Empire is gathering a team of the worst people in the world to run the most powerful nation on earth. These people have been planning for an opportunity like this since before many of us were born. They know exactly what they are going to do. They are “history’s actors” and they are going to do their damnedest to enact change and to re-shape the world as we know it.
This is the ACLU position on the Trump presidency:
This is the correct stance to take. The Trump Empire is not going to listen. They are not going to play by the rules. And they are going to act very very quickly. So I would suggest that if you don’t want Roe v. Wade overturned: then instead of writing letters like this to the ACLU you open your wallet and you donate to them instead. Because you haven’t seen anything yet.
Patton would be kicking with Army Boots all the GOP Tax-Thieves out of their Golf Course Club Houses… and crushing their golf carts & clubs with mechanized units…
Trump is rich. They’ll jump on his jet and be where ever they can get one before dinner. Abortion or other health care access is never a problem for the wealthy.
