My PC mouse lost its right-click capabilities. WTF?

I’m a right-click fiend. Mostly I right-click to “open link[s] in new window[s].” Today, out of nowhere, my mouse’s right-click capability is gone. It’s not like the button is totally dead; it’s just that when I right-click, my computer interprets the signal like a normal (left) click. Instead of opening a menu that would allow me to open a link in a new window, it just opens the link.

I am not a happy camper.

What’s wrong and can it be fixed?
