What's up with my mouse?

I went over to the PC and moved the mouse to wake up the screen. My Norton AntiVirus had run as usual (no viruses found) so I went to click the Finished button. It didn’t work. The cursor moves round the screen, but I can’t click on anything. I checked the cable to make sure the mouse was plugged in. That didn’t work. So I shut down the computer, unplugged the mouse, plugged it back in, and restarted. I still can’t click on anything.

I’ve had mouses die before. Usually it becomes increasingly difficult to click on things. I’ve never had both buttons fail. In this case, neither button works and it just suddenly happened. That makes me thing it’s not the mouse.

Any ideas?

Well if someone finds a solution I would have saved a couple dollars waiting a few days. As my mouse did the exact same thing 3 days ago.

First I couldn’t press the middle scroll thingie to close pages, or scroll pages. Then the left/right buttons stopped working all within about the same 2 minutes.

I took it apart used canned air, made sure the inside was clean, restarted etc. No good.

Right-click has started working.

I took the mouse apart. If I jumper the left microswitch with a knife, it works. So it looks like a bad microswitch. I’ll have to get another mouse.
