Can someone help me with a computer problem, or know a good website for free computer techy information?
I am experiencing problems with my mouse- for some reason I can’t right clight on anything. Two days ago the button just stopped working, and I don’t know what the heck could be wrong. I’m cheap so I don’t want to buy a new mouse just yet, but know that it isn’t some kind of virus attacking my computer (I downloaded the 28 meg Norton AntiVirus last night, only took nearly 3 hours).

Unfortunately, your mouse has, in all likelihood, just crapped out. If you’re truly unable to get a rise out of the right mouse button, and it’s not the annoying Windows 9x bug where it’s confusing the right and left mouse buttons (you have to left-click then right-click a few times, and it will eventually sort itself out), then the solution is to buy a new mouse. You can get a cheapie generic PS/2 mouse for $5 or so. The mice that come with most machines are pretty wretched – you might want to upgrade to a Logitech or Microsoft mouse (Microsoft’s optical mouse is way cool, especially if your mouse tends to get gunked up readily).
oh boy, talk about a goof up… makes you really want that edit/delete post option I was trying to get TubaDiva to look into…
well, I kinda figured my mouse had died… maybe I shouldn’t have thrown it across my desk everytime I get pissed…
Umm… about that gettin buff thing… let’s just say my plan has been postponed until summer (Working out just isn’t as much fun when the HS girls rowing team can’t see you!- sometimes I just hate being in college!)

Do you have an Intel motherboard? If so, you can try swapping the mouse and the keyboard. You know, where they plug in? Swap 'em. That is, if you have an Intel motherboard.
If nothing changes, you need to get a new mouse.
If your keyboard and mouse are all wacked out after that, then it’s time to think about getting it serviced, as it’s probably a problem with the ps/2 port(s).
But, luckily, it’s probably just a dead mouse.
noonch.
Thought I stopped that, dintchya?

Maybe this is a bit too simplistic, but once when my mouse was going a bit goofy, I opened it up and cleaned it with a bit of alcohol on a q tip, that cleared up the problem. Wanna give that a try before you throw it across the room?

HOORAY! I have found the way to fix my mouse! All I had to do is slap it around a little. I borrowed this technique from my dad- who uses it to fix other things- tvs, vcrs, children…
Man, and I almost forked over $5 for a new mouse.
