Put a plate with pie on it in the microwave this morning.
Less that 15 seconds later, flashes appeared in the microwave.

I’m guessing there is a small bit of metal in the plate. Gold (well…fake gold) rim? Metallic paint?
I’ve had just plain garlic in a glass pyrex cup spark when I microwave it with a drip of olive oil - many times. What the hell is up with that?

Went out & bought a small Corelle set at Kmart today at lunch.
I bought a set of plastic plates at the dollar store just for microwaving stuff. Got 4 for a dollar or something. The plates are ugly and cheap looking, but I can nuke whatever on them without sparks.
