For those interested, I just added some new pictures to the page linked above of Polaris that I took tonight while she and my older dog were playing tug-of-war. Some of them are full body shots, so maybe someone can identify what sort of mutts are stirred in the mix.

Lissa, I can’t help you with Polaris (I assume that’s the little dog), but Bean is a white german shepherd! Just like my Mitchy!

Yeah, Polaris is the little squirt.

Bean looks very similar to Mitchy, but she doesn’t have any German Shepard in her.

Her parents were a pure-bred Norweigian Elkhound and a pure-bred Golden Retriever. (So now I have a pure-bred mutt! ) The Golden, Bean’s father, escaped his home one night and fell in love with a gorgeous Elkhound he met on his midnight journey. The two produced a litter of thirteen puppies.

You can’t see it in the pictures, but Bean has a curly tail like Polaris’, but hers is very bushy. My dog trainer claims that curliness indicates a stubborn temperment. I think she may be joking, but in this case, she’s right. Both of my girls are as stubborn as mules about some things.

Bean found Polaris’ crater in the backyard this morning and joyfully set to enlargening it. It is now capable of concealing a VW Bug. (Okay, I’m exaggerating, but it’s huge.) I’m thinking about starting an excavating/earthmoving business with them as my equipment.
