How do web pages determine that my computer does not meet the min specs to support their page? For example, this page suggests I need a PII 233 mhz or better, sound card, blah blah . I can’t figure out how they can get hardware info from my computer and I’d like to fool them in accepting it. The address is http://www.directfit.com if it matters. Java support is on so I don’t see that being an issue.
I have 2 computers going through a dsl router and 1 can access the page just fine but it happens to meet all the specs.
Internet settings and software are the same on both PCs, only the physical hardware is different. MSIE 5.5 browser.
IANA Web techie of any kind. I do unix admin for a living.
TIA.
For the record, it comes up fine on my p133, 32meg antique with a cable modem.
My Half-Baked guess is that they are assuming what you’ll need to see all the flash/shockwave they’ve piled in the site someplace.
