My search for an edible frozen Mexican dinner isn't going well.

Stop at a 7-Eleven and pick up a couple of their chimichangas. Look for the steak & black bean or the fajita chicken.

Stouffers Chicken Suiza Enchilada - outstandingly delicious, for a snack. It seems very salty, though, I wouldn’t eat it as a staple.

Why wouldn’t we? The things mentioned on that page are delicious.

That’s a problem with food marketed to be “healthy”. A lot of it has added sodium to make up for something, forgot what*, and make it more palatable.
*fat?

I doubt many doors would be down with eating some real grub?

Morganstern is being ridiculous. There is a taco truck within a 5 minute walk from just about anyplace here that isn’t Bel Air, Beverly Hills or Malibu. And if there isn’t a taco truck there is a taco shack. Even chains like Pinches, Pink Taco and even Chipotle serve good food. And Tips Taco on Sepulveda.

And Tito’s Tacos on Washington at Sepulveda.

OK, I admit it: Their tacos are not The Best Tacos In The World, but I really liked them.

Usually it’s added sugar to compensate for being low fat. Almost all frozen meals are crazy high in salt, regardless of their heathy claim.

That’s what I meant before spell check screwed it up. I really live their burritos. They use a unique red sauce that is to die for. You know its good when there are always long lines.

Like…like…like…why phone, why???

For lunch right now, I am having a Chili’s frozen dinner - Chicken Fajita Rice bowl. I heated it up and threw it on a tortilla with some sour cream and cheese. Lunch at the office and it was easy, cheap and quick. It’s not anywhere near authentic or excellent Mexican cuisine but it was a pretty good lunch!

Their chili is chili colorado. For their meat burritos, they wrap that up in the tortillas.

Ah. Got my swords mixed up.

I wonder if all that salt helps keep the food from getting too frozen?

Its a chili Colorado that has such a unique taste, at least to my palate.

On the other side of town, right of Cesar Chavez, is El Tepayac. More awesome burritos including their monster 5 pounder which feeds the family. RIP to its founder who would hand out tequila shots at the door.

When I worked across from LAX, there was a place in El Segundo – I think it was El Tarasco on Main St. and Grand – that had the best carnitas tacos I’ve ever had. Two soft corn tortillas, pork, and guacamole with plenty of jalapeños mixed in it, served wrapped up in foil. That was in the early-'90s, and I’ve been searching for their equal. I’ve tried making my own. While the results were good, they weren’t a match for El Tarasco. It’s not easy to screw up carnitas, so it must be the guacamole that made them.

That place is still there. Thank you for the recommendation. And it looks like they are open late.

The recomendation is from 25 years ago.

They they must really be good.

We have forgotten fish taco options. Rubios and Baja Fresh. And Cantinas like Baja Cantina. And the home of mariachi La Fonda on Wilshere.

I do like their cheese enchiladas, about as good as Traders Joes.

I spent ten years working at the local food co-op, mostly as the meat/poultry buyer. I remember asking the frozen buyer about Amy’s, and he said “Even AMY doesn’t eat Amy’s.”
