SOCOM 3 is out, and not included in it is the terrorist biased map Enowapi. So for this reason, I am releasing a strategy I developed and used with my clan that had won us a good number of games. It’s an effective strategy, and I hate to see it go to waste just because I’m playing a new game. The last time I checked, the only people who played the SOCOM series in this board were me and InterfaceX2, but maybe there are some more out there I don’t know about…
This strategy is partially a circumstantial one. This is to say that it will only work under two conditions:
- The terrorist team doesn’t try to rush out of their base
and - You can get your clan or team to stop bickering and work together.
The strategy requires:
One person with a heavy machine gun or n00b cannon
Two snipers
Assuming you have an 8 man team anyways.
For anyone who has ever played this map, I hardly have to explain why it sucks to be a seal. The terrorists love to camp, they have time to plant mines, there’s no trouble in them sniping whoever you place at the grenade turret, and if they ever feel like it, they can take the offensive and sneak up behind the seals by exiting their base through the ramp breach point. Here’s how to take the upper hand.
In the beginning of the round, have a player snipe the ledge right by the ramp breach point, have another call the air strikes, and have one or two make way towards the grenade turret facing the bridge breach point. The sniper in front of the ramp breach should keep the terrorists inside their base, unless they all come running out at once. The air strikes are important because it creates a new entrance for the seals to use so they can enter the terrorist’s base without announcing their presence like a C4 blast would. The men who are making way for the grenade turret are not to climb up the tower until later.
Next, half the seal team will enter through the entrance in the terrorist base created by the air strike, and position themselves on the ledge within the base facing the grenade turret. This same ledge is often used by terrorist snipers to kill their enemies who are using the grenade turret. The idea here is to lock this key position down so the guy manning the turret can remain active and blow the hell out of the terrorist base. Now the terrorists can still sneak up behind the turret, so it’s a good idea to have a seal put his sniper scope onto his teammate across the bridge to make sure no one assassinates him. A sniper or a gunman tagging along with the turret man will do, just make sure someone is protecting the guy on the turret. As for the rest of the men on the ledge, put enough distance between them all so that one grenade can’t wipe out all four guys. And keep in mind, a terrorist sniper can still take out the turret man from the stage right before the ramp entrance to the bunker, and to the right of the ledge half of your team is on. Keep your reflexes sharp, and shoot the hell out of anyone or thing trying to take back the ledge, get on the stage, or get anywhere close to the turret.
At this point, the man on the turret should be releasing countless grenades into every inch of the terrorist base…save for the ledge his teammates are on. This should get rid of all of those pesky mines, and kill anyone who happens to be camping. Time should be spared here. Make sure to bomb the crap out of the ramp going down to the bunker, and the back of the enemy base.
Once this is done, you have to get underground. There is no easy or surefire way to do this, and it’s the biggest component that makes the map unbalanced. Personally, I recommend having your man carrying n00b cannon/heavy machine gun run down the ramp while constantly firing. Anyone who whips around that corner will be pulled pork BBQ unless lag casts its medlesome hand into play. Or maybe just have someone use the NVG and a pistol.
By this time the only living terrorists should be in the bunker…or outside the base. But who cares about those schmucks, after all, you’ll be planting a bomb in thirty seconds or so. Kill whoever is alive down below, plant the bomb, and protect it.
Or course you’ll have to switch the strategy up. Sometimes you’ll need more snipers for the ramp, to throw grenades at the ledge before planting your team there to rid it of mines, or you might want to consider going down the ladder into the bunker, but as long as you stick by this formula, you’re bound to achieve a few victories. Good luck
