 :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning: I am so very sorry this happened to your son.
You are all in our prayers. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for him, and a long internment for the stupid driver. God bless you and yours.

I’m shaking just thinking about this! Your family will be in my prayers, and I’m sure those of us with children will give them a few extra kisses after reading that.

I’ll be praying for you and your family, Kricket. Take the very good advice you’ve been getting from the nurses and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF as well as your son. Best wishes to all of you, dear.

You are in our prayers here as well ! Let us know how he is doing as often as you can.

Oh Kricket.
I am praying for you and your son.

Kricket you have my prayers too. Try to keep your spirits up because that will help your son as much as anything else. A happy mom is more important than anything to a child.

Rev. Lovejoy: that’s just super

Oh wow, this is horrible. I hope he recovers quickly, and the woman that hit him gets some serious jail time. She was obviously driving very fast for being in a parking lot if your son didn’t notice in time.

They did some more x-rays of his leg, and they think that they have to go back in and do something else to it because the bones are starting to telescope on inside of each other.

The driver of the car was uninsured and her licence was under suspension. I have no idea if she was arrested, but I do know that she was up at the place where she hit him asking them to sign a statement saying that she was not speeding. My daughter also told me that the first thing she said when she got out of the car was oh my god I dont have a license.
At first I felt sorry for her because I couldnt imagine what she was going thru not knowing what he was going thru or how the child she almost killed was. Now I have no sympathy for her. She is only trying to save her own ass.
Thank you all for the possitive energy you are sending, and please do give all the little ones in your lives big hugs.
I will try to get back here to let you know anything new.
Veb, thanks for the offer! Yes, I had forgotten that we were so close. If you would like to come up to the hospital he is in Genisis West room 5029. Then maybe you could help me keep everybody posted since my home computer is down. I am sure that they would put you thru to his room if you just wanted to call.

Kricket, I am so sorry this happened to your family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

/em prays.

Why am I not surprised that this idiot was uninsured and license-free?

Still thinking of you and yours, Kricket.

We are finally home. They had to redo his cast and pull the leg out a little and now it is perfectly placed according to the doctor.
While that was being done for him on Tuesday I was in the ER having a heart attack. Very minor, but none the less very real and scary!
I know that everybody said to take care of myself as well, but between worry about my son, dealing with his biological dad, and losing my job because of all this, I think my body just short wired and fried there for a while.
The reason the woman was only cited for non-insurance and not suspended license is because it happened in a parking lot which is private property.
On top of the other things she said and how caring she was about the situation it is also rumored that she made a comment about it being the third of the month and that the kids should know how busy that parking lot is gonna be. You know with the wellfare checks and all comming out!
Nothing against the wellfare system because I used it for a short time as a leg up until I got my ass in gear. Not a way of life!
Another thing I have to deal with is that her daughter is in my sons class. Two days ago we had some pretty bad rain in the morning and this poor child had to walk up four blocks to a neighbors house and knock on the door soaking wet to ask for a ride to school because she couldn’t get anybody to wake up to take her. The kids all eat breakfast at school and she had already missed that on top of her walk in the rain!
What is this world comming to? A month ago I was worried about some freak trying to pick up the neighborhood kids and now this. A woman hits a child almost killing him, and doesn’t even care. She can’t even take care of her own kids!
My son is recovering well, and so am I. The nite terrors are starting now, so one more hill to go over before physical therapy.
Thank you for all the hugs and possitive thinking sent out. It was all much felt, and much appreciated.

Blessed Be

My God, Kricket, you are having one hell of a bad stretch. Best wishes for your son, you, and your family.

A friend of my sister has a son–he’s eight now–who was run over by a car about four years ago. Nowadays he likes to show off the scars on his back and tell people about his accident–it doesn’t bother him a bit. Kids are resilient–as Anti Pro said, soon your son will see the whole thing as an adventure.

Again, best wishes for you all.

I’ll throw in my best wishes too.

I’ve seen some kids in similar situations who bounce back a lot faster then their parents - make sure to take care of yourself too, and take TVeblen up on his offer of free food! It’s nice to see people like that, and all the pthers rallying around.

Oh, yes I am sure that this will be more of an adventure in the end for him then it is for me!
He is doing more and more for himself everyday, and I haven’t really let anybody baby him. As in letting him think he was totally helpless. We all comforted him, but we weren’t going to let him give up and let others take over for him either.
Another thing is that you would think that all the children who saw the accident, or came up to see him in the hospital while he was still hooked up to all the machines and tubes would at least be a little more careful for a little while anyway. They only have 3 weeks of school left. The day after our neighbor kid came up and saw Josh, my husband caught him running through the same parking lot that Josh was hit in.
Yes, I know kids will be kids, but he had just seen him the nite before, and you would figure that he would be a touch more careful.
