He dropped it and the only effect is the screen is black and will NOT turn on.
I connected to my PC, but I can’t grant my PC permission to access because I can’t hit the “allow” button on his phone. Uh, no screen…
If I could HDMI out his phone to my PC or to a screen, that might help. Is that a solution? If I have it mirrored, can I do anything other than see it? I need to control it.
Basically, if plugging it into Windows 11(it does vibrate/react) would work, that would be OK. He wants to get contacts off(he did not save to cloud). However, it detects it but shows blank because we have not approved a PC for access to it.
Any solutions? How can we get into this thing to get its data and contacts?
Phone: Samsung A15 5G
He bought it in May. We have a protection plan for accidents to replace it, but that won’t help as he stored everything locally.
I think the HDMI idea is worth trying. It’s possible the touch screen might still work. If you use a USB hub you can connect a mouse and keyboard too.
There is also special Android debug software called ADB that you can use to connect to it and download stuff, but the phone probably has to be in recovery mode for that (some sort of key combination).
You might also take it to a repair store and see if they can replace the screen or help you download stuff.
I also suggest trying ADB to see if you can access stuff. The small self-contained program I use is ADBLink. They have some links to help pages and stuff there.
As mentioned, you might need to get it into recovery mode first. The key combination for that is peculiar to your device. Blank screen might be a problem with pushing buttons at the right time.
If you really want to get into this, the XDA Forums has a lot of expert stuff. Search for your device.
