My stylist said, "If anyone can pull this off, it's you."

I got my hair cut and colored on Saturday.

Six weeks before, my stylist told me what she wanted to do and I was excited about it. As I got closer and closer to my appointment I thought Do I really want to do this? Then Saturday came and Danielle said, “If anyone call pull this off, it’s you.”

Two hours later, the deed was done. I now have reddish-purple hair with golden highlights in the front.

A few of the comments I’ve heard so far:

A friend’s mother: “Was this an accident?”

My boss: “I’ve heard that in this situation, one should remain silent.”

A co-worker, male: “You must be a huge University of Minnesota fan.”

I’ve also heard:

My neighbor girlfriends: “Oh my God, it’s so CUTE!”

A co-worker, female: “I love it!”

Another co-worker, female: “You have the perfect personality to go along with that hair.”

Sorry to be such a tease, but I don’t have pictures. And I wouldn’t have anywhere to post them, anyway. Tell you what, if some sweet Doper can give me directions on where to post 'em, I’ll get 'em done.

A handle change and drastic hair change within the same week. Maybe I’m having an early-thirties crisis.

I like it, by the way. I’m not used to it yet, but I think it’s flattering.

Whenever I feel like my life is in a rut, I do something to my hair. My friends and family have gotten where they don’t comment anymore.
