Skald has an unreasoning hatred of Canada and Canadians - I think it stems from bone-chilling fear of us.
We’ve seen what your geese can do to an airplane (when they’re not busy crapping all over our golf courses). You’re not fooling anybody.
Looks good!!
They crap on our golf courses too. Trust me on this.
This is crazy. I’ve had the Sanskrit word for ‘‘impermanent’’ tattooed on my wrist for years. For my graduation present I’ve decided to finish it… add ‘‘suffering’’ and ‘‘equanimity’’ (the other two Buddhist marks of existence) like a circle around my wrist, and close the gap with an ‘‘Om’’ on the inside of my wrist.
We’re totally going to have the same tattoo in the same place.
Dammit! Who blabbed?
How the hell should I know? I just have access to the schedules; I am not the boss of you.
First, its not hatred; it is contempt. And second it is not me; it’s Mephistopheles. One does not ask why. I myself am fond of all non-Wolverine Canadians.
 Even Bryan Adams?
Now now, the Canadian government has apologized for Bryan Adams on numerous occasions!
Not a tattoo fan for myself, but I often admire them on others… yours looks lovely.
I’m not always the biggest fan of tattoos on people, but the wrist and ankle are the two places where I think tattoos always look cool.
I do have a question though: will the reddishness fade a bit? It’s just that I wouldn’t quite describe that as copper colored. Copper has more gold in it. Not that it looks bad or anything–the color just surprised me.
Oh, cool - I was wondering idly over the weekend what the outcome was. Thanks for the update, 'Mika!
Om is a mystical or sacred symbol. At its core it’s religious, but there’s a lot more to it than that - it’s supposed to be the first sound the universe uttered, the name of god, the absolute reality, spirituality, etc. It is supposedly the purest symbol, and hence it is told to people to use while meditating. For more info, you’re welcome to check out the Wiki page - there’s a lot of detail there.
To me, its a sign that clearly stamps my origins, culture, and background. Very similar to the nose-piercing, although generally girls don’t get tattoos in India. I like bucking the trend, though.
It has darkened a bit. It’s definitely a copper, sort of a burnt copper color, if that makes sense.
I have a tatt that was translated into Japanese, but it means the same thing in Chinese and Korean as well.
personally I think thats pretty bad assed
enjoy your new tatt and forget about people who might label you for having one.
Now that the swelling has gone down a bit, would you be willing to post another picture?
People who dislike tattoos make as much sense to me as people who dislike the color or cut of my clothing–that is, none whatsoever. Why do people feel compelled to threadshit about this topic in particular? If someone posts a thread about their cool new outfit, I would hope you wouldn’t come in and shit your negative personal opinions about the colors they chose or the fact that you think long skirts are passe.
Haters gon’ hate?
How is saying you dislike tattoos any different than saying you like tattoos? It’s a matter of personal preferences and it shouldn’t be that only one opinion is allowed.
Because the thread is about tattoos, created by a person who likes their tattoo and has already decided to get it. If it was a thread asking reasons for or against tattoos, both opinions would belong. Otherwise it’s a threadshit.
That may be one of the coolest things I have ever seen posted in a tattoo thread.
I am actually Ok with people saying, calmly, “I don’t think your tattoo is a good idea”. They are entitled to their opinion, and I knew when i got this I would have a lot of people that would look at me askance. I agree if you have a major problem with a tat and want to discuss it should be a new thread. Thankfully no one’s really done that yet.
As for photos, Marley23, there is another one in this album:

I think that should grant you access. That’s from Saturday morning. Right now it’s scabbing over. Once all of that is healed, I’ll post some of the “finished product”, so to speak.
I took a picture of it with my face (not posted here), and I was amused to see how much I had to turn the wrist to actually see it. It is very subtle and hidden. I am nothing but pleased.
