Our beloved daughter has hit that height where a dad needs to have exceptional reflexes. Every day when I come home she is usually outside playing, the sight of her beloved daddy is always cause for her to run at me at full steam and should I fail to drop into a crouch to receive this 35 pound rocket we both risk serious injury.
Almost as bad as me getting injured is that our Dani is a sensitive and loving little soul, it is almost unbearable to see her wracked with guilt and sobbing inconsolably when she has inadvertently caused anyone injury or harm. This is always followed up by lots of hugs and “I love you’s” on her part. She is my angel.
It is not limited to our greeting ritual either… we were cuddled up on the couch last night with each of us taking an end. She fell asleep and just as I was about to nod of myself I received a thundering, two footed blast to the equipment. She simply wanted a little space… and got it.
