I know some of you are thinking this is some sort of sex thread but you are wrong!
Nope! My Christmas tree is up! First weekend in December it goes up so we did it today. (we have an artifical tree due to my allergies)
We have
Multicolored lights that do not flash.
Tinsmith tinsel that you reuse from year to year.
A wide varitey of ornaments from both my and Mrs. Z’s childhood and also a Enterprise E and 4 Star Wars ornaments (Luke, Leia, Han and the RotJ Falcon)
All of this is topped off with a angle that lights up.
I put some lights in our windows. We live in an apt and normally I put some outside on our building but this year new porch light fixtures were put up and I don’t have a plug to use outside. So I don’t know if those lights will go up or not.
Hooray! I don’t put up a tree, as I live alone and it seems like a lot of work, but when I was living with a woman, that was one of my very favorite rituals to do with her. (Carving pumpkins at Halloween was one too.)
Not gonna have a tree in my home this year We don’t really have the space and don’t have a fake tree already with no money to spare to even get one.
Maybe if I get some extra cash I’ll make one of those tinsel trees out of coat hangers, those tinsel strands (y’know the shiny tinsel strings that are loooong and wrap around the tree?) and some small lights.
My tree is up, but it’s not decorated yet. It’s pre-lit (plain white lights, no twinkling), which is a big time saver.
Obsidian, you might want to consider getting either a table-top size artificial tree, or a potted real tree of some kind. I know stores sell tiny ornaments, or you can just string popcorn and hang jingle bells on hooks off of it.
Yay for trees! Be careful with the tinsel if you have a pet, though. I’ve heard it can be toxic (and my cat can’t resist how it dangles, so we have to put it up high.)
One of my cats uses the tree to blackmail me into playing with her. If I’m in the living room and for some reason I don’t have all my attention focused on her then she starts to climb the tree.
Then I yell PENELOPE!
And she’ll come trotting over to me with a “yes, you want to adore me now” look on her face.
You are all better people than me. I was supposed to set up our Christmas tree today. (It’s also artificial…my mom hates the hassle of a real tree) Half of it’s up, with strings of lights scattered about the living room.
Little did I know, as I was pulling the lights off the tree so I could fluff out the branches, that my mom had some great system of wiring only she could understand. So I’m leaving it to her to put the lights back on. I now understand why my parents always hated putting the lights on the trees when I was little.
