My v2260

Here on the east coast, we are having a delightful rainy day. Wind and rain and gray. Very nice.

We also had a little blip in out electrical power. So I rest the clocks on the microwave and the conventional oven. Nothing to it. Then I noticed my mother’s v2260 was blinking and giving a “CL” message.

So I pulled out the manual. Went to the index. Looked up “Power Failure,” found nothing. So I looked for a list of error codes. Nothing. So I went to the internet. I Googled “v2260” and got to the Motorola site. No support. No e-mail address to write to. Nothing.

I understand the fool thing is old and no longer supported, but how much trouble would it be to have a page or forum on the v2260?

Fuck Motorola. Want to buy my v2260?

A v2260 is a what now?

On my GE cordless phone, “CL” means you need to reset the time/date for the answering machine part of the unit.

Yes, but how?

The manual discusses how to set the clock on the handset, but not on the base station.

Darn it.

Leave it the way it is and buy a watch?

Sure you got that model number right? The Motorola v2260 is a cell phone, not a cordless phone.

ETA, also try putting the handset on the base, as if to charge it. Unplug the base’s power supply for 30 seconds and plug it back in with the handset still on the base.

I have the manual, which has a picture of the handset. The manual has no information at all about the base station. Zip.

I will try to reset it as you described, although that will have to wait for morning and sobriety.

Well, again, are you sure the model number is correct and it’s not a cellular phone? If there’s nothing about the base station in manual and it only has a picture of the handset, then almost certainly the “base station” is just a charging cradle and what you have there is a cell phone.

On my base station, there are buttons labeled:

Answer on/off
Day/check
Hour
Minute

When I hold down the day/hour/minute buttons, the speaker announces the settings and increments them.

Does that work for you?

here is the manual

If it’s Motorola 2260 Talkabout you’re asking about that’s a really old phone.

I do not think I am getting the sort of profanity directed at Motorola I had hoped for.

In any case, my Mother managed to fix the fool thing. How I do not know. She never reads the instructions anyway.

Dangnabit.

Thanks to you all.

Remember if the flashing bothers you, just put electrical or duct tape over the panel. The electrical tape is black though so it matches the trim better.
