My what the heck moment this morning

Went out about 7 this morning to plant a few lavender I’d bought. They were in those little nursery pots. 2 inches wide and 3 inches deep.

I noticed one of my plants was lying on carport floor. It was almost out of the pot. I filled my water can and gave the plants a drink. I picked up the damaged plant and started pressing the wet dirt around the stem. So it would stand up.

Suddenly the dirt start moving…
A large toad frog jumped out! Shocked the heck out of me. I don’t know how a frog at least 3 inches wide got in that tiny pot. Or how he kept from turning the pot over as he crawled in.
Anyway, that’s a first for me. I’ve planted flowers most of my adult life. I’ve seen frogs in my flowerbed but not in the pot.

Bet the frog was surprised to. :stuck_out_tongue: He got watered and then squeezed when I started packing the dirt.
That must have been an early-morning surprise!
BTW - it’s just “Toad.” Frogs are different critters.

“Toad frog” is a fairly common American idiom when referring to the Anura family. Mostly Southern in origin, I think.
