My wireless connection: Vista sucks - Windows 7 rocks

I was going to put this in GQ, but I’ve come to the conclusion that Vista lies in a realm where normal reason no longer applies, so here we are.

I have have had Vista on my laptop since I bought it, and my wireless connection has always been erratic. I won’t bore you with the ins and outs as I could fill volumes with my - and others - attempts to find out why it doesn’t work properly.

A few weeks ago, I installed Windows 7 Beta on a new partition, so I can dual boot. Since day one, my wireless connection on Windows 7 has been rock steady. Within seconds of my desktop coming up, the connection is made.

There is a whole lot more that I don’t like about Vista, and a whole lot more that I do like about 7, but this alone, I think, just proves the superiority of Windows 7.

I can’t wait to try W7, but my wireless internet’s been fine in Vista ever since the windows update update which corrected issues I was having many months ago.

I am really starting to think that win7 is actually xp with updates. Their just going through the motions by releasing a new “beta”, less than two years after vista got released.

Declan

Microsoft have said that they’re so confident in 7 that they’re not going to release any more betas. They’re going to go straight to a release candidate very soon. Good news.

I agree – no problems recently with latest updates. Used to have heaps of problems.

Also count me in as eager to try W7.

W7 is a god-send. I’ve been using it since the public beta opened up, and I’m just thrilled to death with it. Some devices worked great on XP (my printer, TV tuner card come to mind, among others), but Vista would bitch everytime it remembered they were there. W7 recognized them immediately after installation, and I’ve had no issues yet.

Wireless performance does seem better. On both XP and Vista, I’d be losing signal at least once a day at random. Hasn’t happened yet on W7.

The entire OS just seems “solid.” It’s kinda like the feeling you get when you pick up something made of steel, and its earlier plastic predecessor.

No complaints yet!

so it only took MS what, 19 years (3.0)?! to come up with a decent operating system? :o:D

sorry, sorry. Don’t want to start flaming or anything :stuck_out_tongue: I, too, want to check out W7, if it’s everything they claim it to be (mainly not having all the terrible fuck ups of Vista, which refused to connect to any secured wireless network when I first got it. They sorted that issue out pretty quick, but still, it was a final release, and it couldn’t connect to a WPA or WEP secured linksys wifi network, WTF?!) It should make for a decent dual-boot OS for whens I wants to gets my games on…s…
