Thanks for pointing that out–perfect description!
Wow. That’s heavy stuff, Darth. Take it easy and count your blessings.
I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like this guy was mentally unbalanced. His picture is frightening.
Wow, what a complete and total piece of excrement that guy was.
Take good care of yourself, Darth, and even if you weren’t right there, don’t hesitate to make use of any counseling offers that might be available to you, if only just to unload your emotions with someone who may have some practical tips for how to help put this into a perspective that allows you to come to work everyday without stressing.
Darth, I just saw this.
I’ve got no words. Just a hug, and thankful that things weren’t worse for you and your friends/co-workers. Also very impressed with your nameless co-worker who did such a good job of getting people out of danger.
Yep, it sure does. I’m so used to glossing over the self-promotional crap TV stations slap all over their web sites, I failed to see that. My bias, my bad.
The Rio Grande Valley is at the tip of Texas–bounded by the Gulf of Mexico and the border with Mexico. “On the border by the sea”.
Wow! That’s scary. You *should *be upset. I’m so sorry for you and your wife. If WalMart offers some kind of counseling for the employees (and they should!), please take advantage of it. And even if they don’t, you should talk to someone. It will help. What a horrible event!
Update.
Counseling is available for us, and I may need it. My many years ago, my stepmother was nearly killed by a crazy woman who jumped the curb and pinned her to a wall with her truck. So I sorta freaked out when this shit happened.
So, when the bozo drove into the doors, he missed those concrete posts outside somehow. Bad design there. He didn’t miss the McD’s just inside. He DID miss the folks standing around in the vestibule. I have know idea how everyone was so lucky. A couple of folks I know got cut up rolling around on the broken glass, but nobody was run over.
After the dipshit broadsided his way in, he drove right through about half of the checkstands on that side of the store. Again, nobody was killed.
He made it to the other end of the store, and rammed into the other set of doors. Nobody knows why he stopped there-- clearly he could have headed back out at that point.
I guess there’s a point in your insanity when it makes more sense to eat a gun than put the Caddy in reverse. He was dead before the police entered the building.
The poor witness who was shot at after the woman was killed over at the H.E.B. store ended up spending the night in jail for Public Intoxication. I think he’s gonna get a pass on that one.
Everyone: The Rio Grande Valley is a floodplain area running along the southernmost 150 miles or so of the US-Mexican border in Texas.
Thanks for the update, Darth. Do what you have to do to keep yourself healthy, and keep us informed as you think of it.
I’m so glad things weren’t worse. (And I hope those concrete bollards get fixed)
It’s been a couple weeks. Are you a doing better?
