Well what do you think of it?
Like most people I’ve abandoned myspace for facebook. This just confirms I made the right choice.
I think that’s a pretty goofy logo.
I left myspace for two reasons:
1: I hated that every person’s page was different, and usually insanely ugly with bad music being played
2: All my friends were on Facebook.
I don’t see how changing a logo fixes any of that.
This is why I left. It aesthetically offended me. It was like going back to the World Wide Web circa 1994.
My gut reaction is that I don’t like it, but it has some potential for creative ad campaigns around it. On its own, not really a fan. It’s not quite as stupid as the GAP changing its classic logo (which it just changed back).
It looks like a logo that was designed by a consultant not a graphics designer.
My response to that was to laugh out loud in disbelief for a minute.
As others have said, the fact that each page was obnoxiously personalized is what drove me off of MySpace. It was tacky and obnoxious, buggy as hell, and invariably had somebody’s shitty music annoying me every time I looked at someone’s profile.
I’ve never been to My Space, so I don’t know what the old logo looked like, but this new one looks horrible to me. I don’t use Facebook either, so I’m probably not the right person to ask what’s cool to the kids anyway.
I find it hard to believe it will actually be implemented. If they were really sure about it, it would already be on the site. In fact, that’s what I assumed “unveiled” or “debuts” meant, and I was going to report that the information was false.
And, yes, it is extremely ugly, not least of which because it looks like it’s been poorly printed.
The only way I could see this working is if they fill in the space with words on whatever page you are on. Thus, MyHome for your home page, MyProfile for your profile, MyMusic for band pages, MyFriends for friends’ pages, etc. And then maybe add Bing as the default search engine so they can join MyDocuments and MyComputer
Surely this bold choice will reverse their poor performance trends and attract new users.
