Mystery Music

I have a mystery… This is neoclassical – I think it’s French, perhaps impressionist. It might be ballet music. I’ve heard it on the radio, but never heard the attribution.

I’ve done a kind of hack job coding it, and here is a link to an mp3 file on SoundCloud:

(FWIW, here is a picture of the sheet music for the above, on Imgur.com:

My treatment doesn’t do it any justice; it should be more syncopated, more jivey and jazzy, more FUN. But I’m not that good at coding music, so this is a dead-ass version. At least you get the idea…

(If nothing else, it’s been fun learning how to use SoundCloud and Imgur!)

Thank you, any and all!

Unfortunately I can’t identify the piece, but I am impressed by the effort you put into this query. I’ll be watching this thread.

Well, you freaked me out–I recognized the piece that followed your exercise.

What is it?

Apologies for the hijack:

It’s called “Boilerplate Rag.” This thread from May 2014 pretty much explains it. Plus, here’s the Wiki page. Trinopus sequenced that piece–note for note–as a favor to fellow Doper Ranchoth; a very involved and time-consuming bit of work.
None of which helps to ID the OP song. :o

Actually, not that hard. I’ve got a nifty music-processing program – Mozart Virtuoso – and it makes it pretty easy to stab notes down onto the staff. Kinda like a video game! Up up zap, down down zap, down down z zap, down x zap… With a little practice, it goes swiftly.

Now, as for skill… Ah, well, there you have me.
