So, is MST3K still on the sci-fi channel or not?

-Kris

Hmm…
Since I saw it on today on Sci-Fi, I would assume that the answer is yes.

Are there new ones being made? That’s another question.

Yes, MST3K is still on SciFi channel, but new episodes are no longer being made. In fact, the broadcast rights for most of the movies have already expired, and AFAIK the show is not scheduled to run past the end of the year.

Unfortunately, the show is dead. Sci-Fi still shows the eps they produced (#801-1013) and will do so for at least another few months. For all your MST3K questions, the best place to go is The Satellite News. The guys who run the site will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Check out the entire site, though, since it has a lot of cool stuff (like “Ward E”).

I’ve seen all the re-runs on the sci-fi channel at least 10 times. I have reluctantly given up any hope for seeing the old episodes.

Still, the ones I’ve seen over and over still make me laugh, even though I know most of the lines. And now they’re even taking that away? YOU BASTARDS!

I have free cable for three months and intend to record as many episodes as I can. (Guess that would be about 11 now that I missed one… ) :frowning:

It’s dead, Jim? Jim, its dead?

You can buy the old episodes with Joel, TV’s Frank, and Dr. Forrester on VHS and DVD. I’ve never seen any of the post-Comedy Central episodes. I understand the Sci-Fi is running them, but I’ve yet to find them between endless re-runs of The Invisible Man and z-grade straight-to-video horror flicks.

However, I saw an ad yesterday about a new show being done by the original writers of MST3K, but I missed the name and air date.

Sci-Fi produced 48 episodes:

801- REVENGE OF THE CREATURE
802- THE LEECH WOMAN
803- THE MOLE PEOPLE
804- THE DEADLY MANTIS
805- THE THING THAT COULDN’T DIE
806- THE UNDEAD
807- TERROR FROM THE YEAR 5000
808- THE SHE CREATURE
809- I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF
810- THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION
811- “PARTS”: THE CLONUS HORROR
812- THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES…
813- JACK FROST
814- RIDING WITH DEATH
815- AGENT FOR H.A.R.M.
816- PRINCE OF SPACE
817- HORROR OF PARTY BEACH
818- DEVIL DOLL
819- INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN
820- SPACE MUTINY
821- TIME CHASERS
822- OVERDRAWN AT THE MEMORY BANK
901- THE PROJECTED MAN
902- THE PHANTOM PLANET
903- PUMA MAN
904- WEREWOLF
905- THE DEADLY BEES
906- THE SPACE CHILDREN
907- HOBGOBLINS
908- THE TOUCH OF SATAN
909- GORGO
910- THE FINAL SACRIFICE
911- DEVIL FISH
912- THE SCREAMING SKULL
913- QUEST OF THE DELTA KNIGHTS
1001- SOULTAKER
1002- THE GIRL IN GOLD BOOTS
1003- MERLIN’S SHOP OF MYSTICAL WONDERS
1004- FUTURE WAR
1005- BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z
1006- BOGGY CREEK II
1007- TRACK OF THE MOON BEAST
1008- FINAL JUSTICE
1009- HAMLET
1010- IT LIVES BY NIGHT
1011- HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND
1012- SQUIRM
1013- DIABOLIK

Get 'em while you can. Like the Grateful Dead, MST3K has fans who will offer to trade tapes (except ones commercially available from Rhino).

Good luck and bite me (it’s fun)!

ROFL Hamlet?! Please tell me they didn’t rip Shakespeare. Was it Shakespeare or something misleadigly named Hamlet? If it was Shakespeare, was it that awful? Who played Hamlet? Macauly Culkin?

Crunchy, it was a German version of the Shakespeare classic. Just think: English to German and back to English. It was black and white, boring, and ugly. M&TB (Mike and the Bots) had a bad time dealing with it.

As for MST3K’s future, just remember the old motto: Keep Circulating the Tapes. Legally.

P.S.-As an aside, was anyone here on the Sci-Fi MST3K board a couple of years ago? If so, you might remember me as either mst3kfan31 or brianjedi.

903- PUMA MAN

Funniest of them all…at least the Sci-Fi channel eps.
Puma man is haning from a balcony helpless

Mike: Puma Man!

Yeah, I’m taping every one that I can from Sci Fi for as long as they’re running it. I’ve got a ton now, plus some of the ones Rhino put out (and my local store refuses to lower the prices on grr…). Excellent bargains for the price. I think today’s was The Horror of Spider Island or something similar. And yeah that Hamlet was horrifically bad.
Personally, my favorite of the ones on Sci Fi was “Quest of the Delta Knights” since Mrs. F gets in the theater for the first part, but then again that was the first one I got, and was the only tape I had for about a month and a half last winter…
After Sci Fi stops running the series, are they planning to put any of them out on tape or DVD? All I want to know is what scenes if any they cut from those movies. The last one, Diabolik, seemed to be missing about half the plot (but perhaps that was just a really really bad movie), but I’d like to know if there is any explanation for that 'Is that stud coming?" line… (if you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about…)

See, Crunchy, what happened is that Mike is playing 3 card monty with Pearl, and offers her a deal-he wins he gets to pick a movie, and if she wins, he’ll watch two movies. So he wins and says, “Give me the greatest drama of all time-send up Hamlet!” And Pearl does so. Oh my god-it’s hysterical.

Personally, I’d watch them skewer Gone with the Wind, or To Kill a Mockingbird.
Hell, I’d watch Mike Nelson read the phone book-rrrrooooowwwwrrr!

My favorite is Jack Frost. That was the first one I ever saw, and it never fails to crack me up.

I even named one of my cats after my favorite bot-Gypsy.

And, to answer Crunchy’s question more directly, it’s a dubbed German made-for-TV version starring Maximillian Schell. One of my all-time favorite episodes.

Claudius: Now the King drinks to Hamlet.
Servo: Hell, the King drinks to anything!

For Miller:

Hehehehe…or Mike challenging Pearl with Joe Don Baker’s famous tagline-“You think you can take me? Well, go ahead on. It’s your move.”

I like the scene where they’re all dancing, and Servo starts singing Night Fever.

Kris Rhodes - I can’t see if anyone ever told you what time it’s on. It’s usually on Saturday morning. You can check the Sci Fi schedule here:
