I’m gonna make a guess here. Does this refer to the RPG that Glanville used to play with Curt Schilling when the latter was still with the Phillies and that at one point Schilling’s character apparently abandoned Glanville’s character, leaving him to certain doom?

Yep. Jayson Stark of ESPN (and formerly of the Philly Inquirer) wrote extensively about that Everquest-spawned fued back when Glanville hit 2 HR off Schill back in May.
