N+ on Xbox360 Live Arcade

Just got permission to post this – thanks mods!

Anyone playing N+ on XBLA?

Full disclosure: I’m a small part of the team that brought this game to the 360, and I have to say, it’s nice that it’s finally out!

It’s a 2d action/puzzle platformer with a tiny ninja and physics-based controls – the graphics are pretty minimal, but the gameplay itself is great (okay, maybe I’m a tiny bit biased  ). It does get frustratingly difficult at times, but it’s supposed to be about building your skills and the satisfaction of finally beating the bastard levels that nearly cause you to rip out all your hair. Heh.

Has anyone tried Co-op multiplayer? Interested in a match?

I played the demo and loved it. I had played it on PC briefly, but I’ll probably shell out for the XBLA for comfy couch play. My wife was watching me play through and liked the look of it too, so I’ll probably even double dip when the DS version comes out.

Is the co-op online, local, or both?

I’ve seen some people playing it and I’ve been meaning to download this and one of the XML games.

I got into the 70s on the original game. I watched some runs from the 80s and 90s… God damn they looked impossible. Best game evar!

Multiplayer is both online and local. I find it much more fun to play locally, but then I haven’t tried Live with voice chat, which is apparently occasionally really useful. Sometimes you really need to communicate with your team, even if it’s just to tell them they now have to kill themselves, to restart the level, 'cause you died and that makes completing the level impossible.
I’ve tried Dishwasher and Jelly Car (XNA games) – very fun!

Dishwasher. That’s the one I’ve gotta try.

I love N+, but everytime I try to get a multiplayer game going it says no games found. But then I haven’t delved very far into the singleplayer yet, and its already hard as hell. Maybe my platform skillz are wasting away after too much Culdcept.

I find it’s much easier if you host games, rather than joining. Somehow, you can usually find someone that way.

About the singleplayer: Have you played through the tutorial? It goes through the range of possible moves/tricks, which might be helpful…

Has anyone watched replays of the top scores? So entertaining!

That is like my favorite feature ever. But now I wish the Pac-Man Championship Edition devs had done that.

And I’ve played through the tutorial, but I really think I’m just rusty.

I think everyone should – maybe in some games (say, Uno) it wouldn’t be as helpful or entertaining, but it couldn’t hurt, either. It’s just a good idea.
